For email marketing, I like to ask questions in the very first follow-up message as soon as person opts in. People who are really interested in what you have to offer will reply.
I try to give constructive criticism if it is needed using inflamatry frazes like getting people to click your crappy link helps nobody and could even get you a bad reputation as someone who is unhelpfull and infact quite nasty and as a result i would avoid your future posts. The idea here is we are all trying to get on in life nothing wrong with that but lets be helpfull to one another not nasty if you disagree with a post say so constructively its not difficult just be nice about it
Guys.... Honestly speaking, I started this topic to share the bad practices that marketers should avoid. But now here, I'm seeing so many expert advice so hats of to all.
You can send a million emails and get 0 responses but if you engage the customer in a conversation you can send 10 emails and get 10 responses. The key to sales is knowing when to "close" the customer. Email conversations are a good place to get the customer to ASK YOU to sell them, because you can think about your response before you send it and think of how they will respond to you in advance. I sell a product to graphic/web designers (not saying what it is) but the conversation goes like this in my email conversations: Me: Are you interested in freelance graphic/web design? (I send the message, but I already know the possible answers, yes, or no. If it's a no, then I stop talking because they aren't a potential customer) Customer: yes of course! what can I help you with? Me: I just have this job lead (or other widget, whatever you sell) that I couldn't use. Here you go: Include sample (widget, job lead etc...) Customer: HEY THANKS! How can I get more?? (In the previous message, you weren't "selling" them anything, you gave it away without any notion of needing anything in return) Me: Well I don't really have time to keep putting these together for you, but you can contact (your site) to get more, They set you up free for a few days it's pretty cool. (You are recommending something as a peer, NOT a salesman, one of the strongest sales techniques out there) Customer: AWESOME, I'll go check that out! (they go visit your site, blog, widget store etc...)
copy writing is one of the most important aspect of email marketing. People these days are too smart for scamy emails.
Repetitive messages within a day is a spam move in email marketing as well. I see that the so-called number of internet marketing gurus expand daily. There is nothing wrong with building an email list but make sure that you do provide good info not just clutter someone else inbox. Rain
You know what, in the IM/Home Biz field, email marketing and newsletters have degenerated into nothing but ads. Now, we all know we're using email marketing to sell our services/products etc, and there's nothing wrong with emails pitching the benefits of the product and the problems it solves. But, if all you're doing is spamming your subscribers with hype, they will probably unsubscribe pretty damn quickly. That , in the eyes of this old dog, it one of the biggest email marketing mistakes. And, it also makes life for those who try and do things the
It's so important not to spam your list! You must provide your list with valuable information otherwise they will just ignore or even block your future emails. I like to build up trust with my email list, and it's important to have some humour in your emails too. I send an email out every week or so to my list.
OR update your list with opt-ins and RSS subscriber to get best result, sent to target customers instead of sending in bulk.
