Best platform to build social network?

I was wondering which are the best platforms for building a completely functional social network.

There are only just a few good social networking scripts around.
Actually 3 well known and solid, they exist for many years already and have good support too and private forums.

Jomsocial - http://www.jomsocial.com (this is a Joomla component, Joomla itself is free)

Yes i have the same question to ask. Now i am bouncing between elgg and buddypress

 

I think elgg has developed greatly,and provides a different view also.The community is very active there.

 

I finally decided to choose buddypress. Am I wrong? Guide me pls

 

Am trying buddypress too. So far so good. Easy to learn and start plus lots of free plugins

 

Social Engine has many features but still they haven't fixed the "slooww" loading of their script.

 

Elgg is very usefull and powerfull social networking software that provides components which help organizations and individuals to build fully features social environment.

 

I think social engine deserves it.

 

Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Pinterest or StumbleUpon. You can utilize as many as you can effectively with the social media management tools.

 

All social network builder listed above were good for usage .

 

I choose NING.

 

Tried this and it's looking good so far. I hope this doesn't like Social Engine when there are under 100 users.
