Broad, exact or phrase?

When using the Google keyword tool in order to find keywords you'd like to place in the META keywords tag of pages ...which type of search you use?
Or can be used the best. Broad, exact or phrase?

    Kind regards,

Personally I use phrase match for my keyword research. Broad is far too ambiguous. I use phrase rather than exact because I figure that if I rank well for the exact term that I will also (usually) rank well for phrases containing that term, so phrase match gives me a better idea of how much total traffic is out there.

Well, I wouldn't use meta keywords, as they are redundant and a potential spam flag.

However, when searching for keywords, I use Exact, as it still gives a wide range of keywords, but more relevant. That's just my personal preference though.

Always use exact. In addition don't base a site around 1 keyword. 10 at a minimum with greater than 800 exact searches per month.
    Good Luck.

I use phrase match because you would get results of people actually searching with the phrase you are targeting. This way you would get more precise results compared to broad phrase which is barely accurate.

You should use exact search so you can see the exact potential for the keyword.

That's not true. Have you actually used the Adwords keyword tool? Obviously not, as you would get MANY keywords, not just the exact one (including the ones you mentioned)! You would get the exact search volume, i.e. an accurate one, whereas broad and phrase won't.

You just want to spam some links for your site on a NOFOLLOW forum. (And FYI: signatures are only visible when logged in, so your spam won't help you.)

I would never use broad match, some people use phrase match but I generally only use exact match...just make sure that you use the same numbers for comparisons everytime and I would never use broad match.
