What is "Squidoo Lens Writing"?

Hi all,

I came across this term on the net today, did a Google search but just found some services on this. It seems like some writing techniques for article marketing. Whatever, I'm still not sure what it is. Can anyone explain?

Squidoo is a site that publishes articles submitted by their users. They call these articles "Lenses." People use Squidoo for SEO purposes by submitting lenses with links back to their website in the text, usually with targeted anchor text. Links to your site, in moderation, will help you rank better in Google and Bing (but too many low-quality links can get you penalized). There are mixed feelings about using Squidoo for SEO, because if the article is any good you could be putting it on your own website instead and getting traffic from it rather than giving Squidoo the traffic in exchange for backlinks. But to answer your question, Squidoo lens writing is either writing a lens on Squidoo with links back to your website or paying someone to do it for you.

There would be little point in that. An original lens can be a good way to make revenue, but also have some links back to your site. It's an authority site, so you'll get some decent weight, especially if you put effort into making a good lens and promoting it right. Also, as an authority site, the lens can rank fairly well quickly. Obviously, don't complete against your main site or you might outrank yourself.

 

They are supposed to be unique, but the fact is there are a lot of lenses that people have made that are just copy and paste of other sites. So the statement "we have increased our systematic intolerance of duplicated content and plagiarism." doesn't exactly ring true.

 

Squidoo.com calls their single page posts "Lenses" it haw in the past been a popular site for marketing types looking to promote products or create backlinks to heir site for seo purposes, Squidoo took a Google search ranking hit some time prior to the Panda filter introduction which hurt many of the article directory sites, tightened quality standards and policy to earn better search ranking.
Squidoo has a revenue sharing program for ads placed on pages you create.

 

Since the Google Penguin and Panda updates you should always put unique non-spun content on web 2.0 sites such Squidoo.

Squidoo lens is a blog just like an other , but with more ways to monetize because if you look at thier blogs , there is ADs all over both sides and the bottom of your blog. The process of making a Squidoo lens is long because it has many features like google blogger but its formatted much differently plus has more AD types than blogger to choose from. After you make your blog , you have to wait for Squidoo to approve your blog which can take up to 4 hours to become live.
