For Google +1 it essential to make friends follow their status, their group and need to do activities. Google +1 marketing is very good.

people still prefer facebook at this moment.

For +1 ranking, your site need to be followed or marked by others. The easy easy to get more +1, is to purchase that!!

 

Your site will appear higher in google if you +1 it yourself, then you will see when you are logged out your site will be less high in google's search engine for your keywords.

 

I think Google Plus is the most important social network for Webmasters and Web Developers, as it can improve your site rank in google. Unfortunately most "normal" people still prefer Facebook as it as more benefits for them, more games and apparently easier to use. As a Webmaster, I really like using Google Plus though and it is my favorite social network so far. To be honest, I actually hate facebook.
