Banners Vs Text?

Can anybody tell me which is the more effective form of media between banners and Google-Style text links?

For example, If I had the same sizedadvertising space on my site, and the banner and text were of the same relevancy/targeting, which could I expect to have a higher click conversion?

Are there any known studies on this? If so, please provide links.

 

imo its text now. Everyone has kind of developed a mental filter of banners and kind of ignores them.

 

I think it depends on the site, and the type of banners. more active banners will get a better response

 

I would go with text links. If I have to use banner, I wont be bothered with 468x60. I always go for odd sized ones.

it depends i have chosen to have text ads only but your best to play around and see what works better for your site

 

I stick to text links since they are easy to blend and most people tend to ignore graphic advertising, if not disable by an evil software

I think it depends on the site. If the site is content site Banners better but the site have many picture Text better.

 

Definately text.
You can include 3 text ads in the place of one banner.
So user can have more choices.

 

I also think text is better
As a site-visitor I have never clicked banners, just look at them as they can be nicely done ))

for me text links are better as they are kinda easy to blend into the content . though you can have the banners at the bottom * to me banners dont look good in between the content *

People seem to have gotten something called banner blindness.. so text especialy of non-banner shape images are above the links. in my humble opinion

TEXT out performs BANNERS 5:1 on my sites.

Psychologically we have been "programmed" to ignore banners.

I think text works alot better banners usually get ignored on my site and I like keeping my sites clean so people should pay more for banners.

 

Can you guys post some sites who accepts banner ads or selling spaces for banners to be displayed? thanks
