I setup my first twitter account two days ago. in two days I have got around 26 followers (see here) http://twitter.com/adulthaven The only thing I understand is you follow, they follow... If someone follows you, and you tweet, I only see the tweet on my page, so how does this benefit me? So I understand the follow, but can someone please explain the benefit that I am not seeing? Thanks
Basically the more followers that you have, the more oppportunity you will be able to market to the masses. If you have 100,000 followers and you send out a message with your website link, that is a way for you to get traffic to your website via twitter. There are legitimate sites out there like trafficboxer.com which you can also get twitter followers from. The formula is simple, more followers = more potential traffic to market to.
If somebody is following you, they will see your tweets in their "Home" news feed. You might also try using hashtags to get seen by people who aren't following you. Here's a video about using hashtags: http://youtu.be/DYmmGYNCavQ
Maybe that is what I do not understand, I am not seeing my tweets on the home page of those following, and I surely do not see their tweets on my home page, as I only see my tweets...
The much follower you have, the much you can promote!! So, the numbers of follower are your asset. You can easily promote your site/page/offer to thousand people without any actual cost. It's a huge matter for a internet marketer.
I get that...what I do not get is how... If I have 100k followers, then how would someone know how popular I am until they followed? No one has yet answered my question...I do not see other tweets on my page, and I have not seen mine when I visit their page, so how do they know what I am tweeting unless they are just happening to be visiting my page at the time? that is the part that I do not get....
hi dscurlock, If you are logged in to Twitter and you visit https://twitter.com/, you will see all of the latest posts from all of the people that you are following. This is called the "feed." When a person follows you, your posts will show up on this page for them. A "profile" (ie. https://twitter.com/#!/user) only shows the things that that user has posted themselves or retweeted. It doesn't show the posts from people that they follow. So someone who visits the profile of one of you followers will not see your post. Most people read tweets by reading the feed available on the https://twitter.com/ homepage rather than visiting the profile. Your posts will be seen in this feed by anyone who follows you. You followers can also "retweet" one of your posts which will add it to the feed of all of their followers as well.
Did not know that, got it... I seem to be getting followers daily. Got another 5-6 followers overnight.... I guess the bigger it grows, the more that follow... Thanks Everyone for your input...
Exactly this. Use the hashtag feature to find people in your niche then follow them or tweet them and they may follow back. Also, use the Retweet feature to gain followers. Ask people for retweets or do retweet for retweet
Twitter, much like facebook and myspace, is social networking site. What sets twitter apart from the others is that it only posts one's status. Twitter is even being used now by doctors to keep family and friends up to date on the condition of a patient.
People update their statuses to useless things no one cares about, and then promote something every once in a while. That about sums it up.
