Hi, so I have a few good links from wikipedia that provide traffic though I am wondering if google uses links from wikipedia for pageranking since wikipedia links can be self-added?
Wikipedia isn't easy to spam. Google does value links from wikipedia, and links on wikipedia are used by the hundreds of wikipedia mirror sites, including answers.com.
yes wikipedia is not easy to spam as the website should be of good quality content to be accepted But wikipedia links will give you a lot of traffic thats for sure
Wikipedia can be edited by anyone, even unregistered users. Just click on the "edit this page" link on the top of most articles
Thanks for the information, I feel that while it does give me a good amount of traffic, google does not account it for my pagerank. The pages on wikipedia that I have links from are all ranked higher than my site and when I used iwebtool, it doesn't list the wikipedia links as part my backlinks.
Wow that's weird, I just used the site backlinkwatch to check my backlinks and it does list the wikipedia sites, i don't know what that says about iwebtool, i've had the links for a while and i use to trust iwebtool a lot.
Wikipedia is a good link to have, definately. Anybody have any idea what is an optimum link number from Wikipedia? For instance, what if you had one to a website, or ten to a website? Would there be a certain level which is eventually going to be detrimental? Anybody had any experience with this?
You can drive a lot of people going through your website with wiki but only if your link stays up long enough.
I was getting 10 hits a day until someone removed all my links I'm just going to move on and spend my time elsewhere...
