Always share information in the blogs that could be helpful to other blog readers. Do not just reply with spammy "Thank you for sharing nice post blaaaaaaah" comments. There is no way you will approval of those kinda comments.
As usual comments like "Great article. Thanks for sharing" should be avoided. You should enjoy blog posts and then make the comments. Everyone will understand that you are not commenting just to increase link back but actually participating.

Yes,some days ago I just read some where about google penguin update, it's about low quality blog comment links.So here I may say when you're going to comment it should be genuine and always try to relevant hyper with same niche.
First choose the relevant blog to your niche and that has also good page rank. Try to do comment on page ranked page and comment should be relevant to the article. Don't try to do spam comment its would be harmful for your website.

Always try to comment in the blogs where the comments are not sent for awaiting, You have to select approving blogs and then comment, also dont use ordinary comments like Great Article, Thanks for sharing likewise comments, those comments tends to think you as the spammer.
Say something about the contents, this maybe good. If you just put a link on that, it will be deleted.
