16,000 impressions in ONE DAY, but only $30 made. What the hell is going wrong!

Hey there, Just wondering if someone could help me please on how to improve CTR, CPC, because yesterday, I had my record day of 16,000 impressions but yet, I only made $30.00.

The site is a video game news site concentrated on one game mostly. Is there anything else I can do to improve the CTR,CPC or perhaps my audience is just far too technical and are use to ads and don't often click them? :(

Ads layout. Only image ads only.

What was the average CPC? I know in the gaming niche clicks are generally on the smaller side in terms of revenue. Also how many clicks did you manage to get? And 1% is about right for the gaming community in terms of CTR. They're more apt to not click on ads then say...house wives or DIY guys.

IMO this is nothing as compared to the impressions he is getting.

@OP: Have you selected targeted channels ?

Hi Yaldaram.. I've just disabled some general categories and senstive catagories so hopefully some sort of an improvement.

Any suggestions on ad placement? ad sizes? perhaps there isn't anything else to do because of the technical visitors

try changing ad types - maybe a 720X80 banner across the top and removing the square blocks. Also - try having one the the side

    lucky me i guess... :(

    Hmm

removing the sqaure blocks? that would make things worse, revenue wise.

What do people think goes better background colour for the ads.

I somewhat agree. Perhaps one all text, one all images, and one both and see where you go from there.
Anyways, good luck! If you're getting that many impressions in a single day I'm sure you'll eventually go far, or perhaps start selling advertising yourself?
