URL Optimizing Strategies?

URL optimization is becoming one of practices by various SEOs around the world. One of ways to optimize URL is stuffing in keywords in the URL. Is URL optimization strategy worth going for? I don't really know. But can anybody list out any other URL optimization strategies? (Apart from keyword stuffing in the URL)

 

Well stuffing is definitely not smart. That doesn't work anymore. It's spammy and blackhat, and will get you penalized. Best thing you can do is include keywords early in url, and keep url short. Pretty simple basic stuff. I know from experience, good luck!

 

IMO URL optimization is more close to the programming stuff like how easily you can handle dynamic urls through your coding. Even urls like /1/2/3.htm can rank high if there are enough backlinks to them. Also as a step further in optimization, urls should be more close to (reflects) the topic of the webpages.

Better url optimization is the best words that you can use that describe your page. Avoiding special characters must be the best practice in URL optimization.

 

Honestly i still confuse with newest google algorithm. Each people has different experience. But the exact is spammers will be throwed to the trash

How do you think special characters in URL affect SEO of a site? Is it from the viewers/site traffic's perspective or from the Google's perspective? Please elaborate.

 

Special character in the sense, URLs without any single quotes, etc. Have the keywords placed in every page of URL.
Also that the first step would be choosing the keyword rich website name. Try to optimize the URLs and web pages in a precise way.

 

Does google show any partiality in choosing between a URL with special characters and a URL without special characters? (how far you are about that?).

Thanks for your replies guys! Any other expert views on URL optimization? Apart from avoiding special characters and keyword stuffing in domain name?

 

Use you main keyword as your URL you may also use Geo Targeting + Root Keyword + variation, URL title which can be also found on your page.

 

In case of a larger keyword, i guess this trick wont be of any use. Does variation of keyword + keyword + geo target carry more weight or just including the keyword and variation?
