Yes, you can do it, but it is counter-intuitive. You really don't want any links other than your affiliate offer on your site to avoid distraction. Once your visitors have gone, they probably won't come back and presumably your affiliate commission is greater than an Adsense clickthrough so it makes sense to concentrate on the better revenue returns. There is a "but." If you use an exit page re-direct if the visitor isn't interested in your affiliate offer and closes the window, then I would stick loads of an opt-in, relevant Adsense blocks and a few CPA freebie offers in a last ditch attempt to make a few dollars before you lose them forever.
adsense on all types of sites is ok but only avoid adsense on sex toys or cigarette types of affiliate sites.
