Lol!!!! Google managed to sink websites much bigger than you ever had owned in your life due to search engine restructurings. Many of these companies are suing Google. Unfortunately people want Google and will not go elsewhere, so think again.
many feel that way. Don't get discouraged easily though, there are more ways to make money online that don't involve google traffic. I don't think anyone would buy penguin'd sites now, it's really scary, I know I wouldn't. I don't know what do with some of my sites that got hit by penguin either. Selling them for pennies based on the post penguin revenues doesn't seem like an attractive option, I'd rather keep them for now. I'm selling some of my other sites though.
I also got hit, not because of bad content, but because I think they picked up some bad links to my website (Got over 40´000 incoming links). But that only raises one question for me, wouldn't it be super easy to bring down a competitor's website by creating a lot of spam links to them?
I suspect the change wasn't so much a penalty for having bad links, but rather just a change that made the "bad" links that were previously counted as good links no longer counted. So throwing a million crap links at a competitor probably isn't going to do a whole lot.
Yeh, that might be correct. Though, it's weird that the website I went most whitehat with got hit the hardest. xD I got one website as a side project which is purely run on blackhat tools and it actually got an increase in the serps.
He's actually speaking with sense- any company that relies completely on Google (or any other traffic source for that matter) needs to wake up and find some diversity in their marketing strategy. They are wasting their time. WebDev
