Around the 25th of last month I noticed a sudden and persistent drop in traffic on a number of websites important to my income. These websites have good content and are 100% custom built websites (by myself) so they're not cheapy auto-blogs or anything of the sort. I'm sure Google published this with the best intentions, but this update has hit me extremely hard traffic and income-wise. I've always exercised white hat SEO as well. I'll be monitoring traffic very closely.
Exactly what I would have said. The more value your site provides to your visitors, the more popular your site becomes and google rewards your site. If your site reflects more on advertising and less on providing value, your site gets punished in the serps. So how many backlinks per month were you building for the site? And what about the social media strategy for the site?
I wouldn't relate the social media strategy that I incorporate on the sites to the drop in Google search traffic, but I have a growing social media presence for all sites in mention. The facebook pages are updated with viral images that I create (related to the content) almost daily. This is a seperate strategy that I wouldn't really go into on this thread as it's unrelated. On a final note relating to that; I do include social bookmarking (G+1, etc) on the site and have what I'd class as a sufficient amount to determine it from a low-quality site. The drop in traffic is from the decreased performance in Google after this whack of an update. I'm not sure if it's something to do with the workings of the system that I've created (like the tags system) or what. The one site that wasn't effected does not have my tags system. E.G http://www.funfactz.com/tags/heart/ (Any fact that has "Heart" as a tag will appear there. Tags are dynamically created if they are included in any of the contents "tags." So this enables me to cover more keywords and enhance user experience so they can find the facts easier rather than vanilla categories.) However, Short Stories doesn't have this functionality and hasn't been effected. This is just one example of something that's going through my mind.
Unique content and same niche links are always the king of SEO. My site get better results this updating.
Hello.... Yeah,After upadting by the Google some websites lost its traffic,as much as i have studied about it,it is due to over optimization and not good quality of content. Two updates made by Google, after first updation, website's traffic decrease due to SPAM means over optimization and after second updation, traffic decrease because of the quality. Some rules of submission also changed so you have to studied about it and you should concentrate on the quality of content......
Yes you are right. We have noticed many websites are getting down for their poor performance. Google is now going to accept only those sites which are working really hard on their website or using Search engine friendly SEO submission strategies for boosting their ranking, so best is find-out the best solution for optimizing your website. No need to run away from the situation, just do what is important for search engine. Google is seeking for quality content and genuine webmasters.
Just goes to prove that content is, and always will be king of the internet. Good content, that is, of course!~
