I think it should be legalize because marijuana can do wonder. It helps to aid those person who suffer from illnesses. As long as a person can use this in a proper way I don't see any reason why they should not legalize this.

Or how about just because somebody wants to get high. I suppose they could always just turn to glue sniffing, which is still legal. Either that, or we could outlaw glue. Glue sniffing?

everyone seems to think that marijuana users just sit around, are lazy, eat too much and do nothing. But it will surprise you to know that I personally know many highly successful entrepreneurs who smoke marijuana.

The propaganda that has been written about marijuana is deliberately misleading. Follow the money. Read the history. Marijuana being illegal has everything to do with big corporations and Big Pharma not wanting the competition, which means, it is and always has been about money.

so yes, I think it's time to legalize it.

It should have been done early enough. It's safer than alcohol. But then, it's really about one's will to use, or not use it at all. And then, as @arwen54 says, it's only really about the money. What hypocrisy..

Some people who are into meditation say that the monks and other experts in that field of practice get a high when they do it. They say that when you teach your mind to believe that you're in a state of bliss or other peaceful condition then you will get to experience that condition even when the opposite is true, because the subconscious mind cannot tell the difference. Of course, you need to really be good at it and so you have to practice it for a long time. And then you won't need to debate whether or not to legalize MJ or outlaw that which is already legal, like glue..

Damn bro. That was deep. I think I might have to take another hit off this pipe just to gather the full meaning. In principal, I don't care if a person finds inner peace by shoving barbed wire up his dick hole, so long as he doesn't try and shove barbed wire up mine, or ask me to pay his medical bills.

For those who dislike looking at stoners wasting their lives sitting around public parks discussing philosophy, it still makes more sense to treat addiction as a medical condition, rather than incarcerate as a criminal condition. Personally, I can't stand MJ. Never have liked it. I am, however, considering acquiring a growers card.

I too haven't tried MJ or similar stuff and don't intend to. I don't like philosophers either (stoned or otherwise and in public parks or not). I think the government should do its job and arrest crackpots and consign them in hospitals. Then it should go after criminals, especially the drug lords, and place them all in jail. In that way nobody's behind gets barb-wired..

We need to round up ALL the crackpots. People with cancer, ibs(irritable bowel syndrom), and erectile dysfunction. Get the police out there, round em up, and force them into hospitals.

Terrific! Who first? Pfizer? Merck? McKesson?

You may have to distinguish which one(s)? Criminals are anywhere and may be in and out of the drug industry, the legal one, that is. And more so especially in the illegal ones like MJ, heroin and stuff. And don't forget the members of the police as well as elected officials, if any, to complete the syndicated picture..

Criminals are wherever we say they are. We simply write a law, and new criminals are born. Egypt, for instance, just jailed several people for crimes against Islam. These so-called crimes were committed more than a decade ago when such actions weren't even illegal.

When it isn't a crime before the law was written that law (that says it is now a crime) is called a bill of attainder. This type of legislation is common among countries that don't practice western-style democracy preferring instead to abide by tenets of the old testament..

Whatever its called, my point is that, to take care of the problem, we simply need to draft a few more laws. I also find old people extremely offensive. I think they too should be rounded up and put some place out of sight. I find their wrinkly skin and gray hair obnoxious, and most are far from productive and contributing members of society. Old people and stoners. Lets just be rid of them.

You can ask the Swiss government to stop the treatment of old people with stem cell therapy. They get younger every after treatment.

Cannabis is known to reduce cancer cell growth and cancer cell size. May I just point out that over 200,000 people die annually from tobacco related illnesses, and that Marijuana has literally contributed to 0 known cases of deaths in its whole historical use dating back thousands of years?

You can not dictate what a man wants to ingest into his own body. Every man and woman should have the right to choose, and also self medicate as they feel fit. There is no stopping the use of cannabis. Ever. It won't end, and it won't be cut back.

So, realizing this, we must make a decision on whether or not to let criminals control and manage the market, or we can put it into the hands of supervised stores that sell it to responsible adults. Am I saying that younglings won't get it? Absolutely not. It's the same way with alcohol, and cigarettes. Do you suggest we eliminate both of those and have a civil war on our hands? In the alcohol prohibition days, the American people did not take it very lightly. Machine Gun Kelly? Yeah. Exactly.

It comes down to one simple bit of logic: I am no one to tell you what you can and can not do, and you are no one to tell me either. If I am not harming anyone, the earth, or anyone's things.. then I should be free to do as I please. That is freedom, that is what the United States *WAS* all about. Dictators free themselves, but they enslave the people.

Oh, and if you honestly believe that is is okay to imprison a person in a cage for having a NATURAL plant that grows from the GROUND that has killed NOBODY, you are completely illogical.

“Prohibition... goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control mans' appetite through legislation and makes a crime out of things that are not even crimes... A prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our Government was founded.” - Abraham Lincoln The 16th President of the United States

Well said. You can also mention the fact that hemp is more durable than paper made from trees. In those days, the paper companies did not want to compete with hemp due to the fact that it is one of the most durable fibers known to man. That would put Mr. Paper out of business.

Hemp paper can be recycled around 40% more than the current standard of paper. Hmm... How wasteful we are. Lets chop down big beautiful trees instead of grow paper, rope, fuel, and housing in abundance.
