301 Redirects of URL extension

Okay, I have a website, let's call it www.movethatstuff.com. Here's what I am trying to figure out. Let's say I create a web page for every prominent keyword keyword associated with the websites industry, and use a 301 redirect to the home page, is this a waste of time, or am I forwarding the seo juice from those pages to the home page. For example, let's say I've optimized www.movethatstuff.com/tulsa-moving-companies.html, set a 301 redirect to www.movethatstuff.com, and created external links to the afore mentioned keyword url, am I going about this the right or wrong way. I've had some success with my overall approach to SEO but some things still allude me, such as the method by which websites home pages are optimized for multiple keywords. Is it by this process I havedescribed above or am I completley off course here. Thanks for the feedback.
