--- Why should we want to presume on what he was looking for? Just to make your point you guys are presuming things. And if I explain that your presumptions might be wrong, you are not ready to take it up.
We should look things on a broader perspective. My point is that he would have made that topic only to be specific in what he has looking for (not the race but only on the information) . So, that is not racism. This is it.

    You avoided my question......AGAIN.
I ask for the 3rd time...........What if the guy just wanted to hire out his own kind for no reason?
I said "WHAT IF". I'm not accusing anyone of anything and I surely would not judge the person even if they were racist. I'm a bit racist myself.

What exactly is "fuctup"? And where is the threat you are talking about?

I see no threat at all, rather a very lively debate. Unlike some of the boring threads I see on here from time to time.

    No, I'm trying to explain.

-- See, there are many "IF" to be answered before anwsering your question.
What IF, he just had very geniune reasons (as stated above) while creating that thread?
What IF, he had a thought just to help his own people?
Will you accuse someone of being a racist, just because he is helping his own kind?
Only who wants to prove the superiority of his/her race or the one who wants to supress other races or the one who wants other races should not be benefited -- is a Racist. Not this one!

I said "WHAT IF". I'm not accusing anyone of anything and I surely would not judge the person even if they were racist. I'm a bit racist myself.[/QUOTE]

So, you are a racist by yourself. Now I understand why you are not taking up any sort of explanations.

    i second your statement! :)

Why don't you just ask him yourself instead of starting a gossip thread behind his back based on assumptions.

Wow. Seriously? This should be obvious: He's looking for cheap labor. Duh.

It's not racist. For me it's the same as saying : US only or UK only members. It's easier to communicate, easier for the money transfer and maybe a little bit more trust and why not helping a 'brother' out by offering him/her something to work. That's my opinion at least.

havent read the whole thread, but im not indian, and i am not offended by "indian only", to me its the same at the US in the way their presidents must be "us citizens only". I do admit that this is perhaps racism, and if anything is almost insulting to indian people, rather then non-indian people.

To some people in western countries, their perception of indians (cheap labour) is the same perception that indians have towards the untouchables.

On a different note, here are some other reasons it might be indian only:

It may well be that the project is local, requiring someone with a bit of insight or first hand knowledge on india and its culture, or it may well be a language issue, if the person hiring doesnt speak english natively then i understand the reason for them hiring someone in india.
it may be for payment reasons, where its easier then to pay via bank account if they are local. If the person hiring is from india, they will be in similar timezone, none of this waking up at 3am to be on skype to talk to someone on the other end of the world.

And finally, ive met up with people ive met online before, something i couldnt do if they were in different countries... (this last point is a long shot...)

This is not racism at all. I some times only ask for writers from India, or from Fillipinos or from UK or from US etc.

People all over the world might work at cheap rates but Indians certainly work cheap.... he ad could mean that the person is not willing to negotiate on prices and the work doesn't require expertise in English or in that genre and topic.

In some cases, location can be important - I sometimes see people request US or UK writers specifically because they want content that is legally or culturally specific to that location (I tend to apply anyway, given I'm English but live in America), however I think the requests for Indian writers only stem from assumptions about cost. People who are somewhat ignorant and want cheap writers ask for Indians because Indians offer cheap rates, and usually have a decent level of English. Of course, they could get the same results from a writer in Pakistan, the Philippines or any number of other places, but what they really mean is they want someone cheap rather than a more expensive "native" writer.

I don't think it is racist - how many people in countries where English isn't the first language do you see just replying anyway on jobs that specify native speakers? You can apply for the "Indians only" jobs if you're not Indian and they might give you a chance, all it tells you is, the pay won't be great.
