Sub Domain & SEO Benefits

    Hello,

Will I get any SEO benefits if I create a subdomain and start a new blog for a new service?

Suppose my blog is performing well on SERPs. So if I create a sub domain and then setup a blog for a special purpose then will it perform like my primary domain?

If it doesnt.. then what if I install the new blog on another folder instead of subdomain?

Sub-domains are treated as separate domains by search engines. Sub-domains are good for targeting a geographic location.

What if I install another blog at another directory? example.com/services instead of services.example.com. Will that be treated as another blog?

In my opinion a subdirectory is by far better than a subdomain. A subdomain is seen as a "separate site", although it does inherit some of the domain value.

The subdirectory is preferred because it's on the main domain and gets the full value.

Any reference or links? Which says we get full value if we install another blog in another directory.

From my point of view it is a good strategy to have a subdomain point to main domain.
main domain -> your core business
subdomain -> blog of your business

    this can help SEO

I think main domain should be your business and blog should be on other directory.

In case your new blog is totally different from the original site (niche etc.) and you can create enough contents (like a big site and not just 2-3 pages) then subdomains may be better to use else go for the directory mode.
