Has SEO changed over the past 2 years?

    Hey guys just wondering has SEO changed or is the rules still the same. Applying high quality back links, great content exc..
    2 years ago I owned a site that were earning 3k per month then suddenly it got sandbox. I hired a guy over at fiverr to
    as my SEO guy and he spammed my site to death with back linking.

    yes , SEO has changed in last two year. Google regularly update their search engine algorithm.

    SEO was never changed ever. But nowadays Google is just applying those aspects strictly which were supposed to be the quality guidelines in the proposal of each and every SEO company. Some just followed those guidelines and didn't got effected and about rest everyone knows .

    Hey Guys thank you all for taking the time to reply to my post I appreciate it. SEO can be really frustrating at times.

    @ekhlas yes it was pretty good. and yes I am still earning now but definitely not from SEO

    SEO Has changes more than 100 times for the past 2 years. the recent change(the so called penguin) just took place last month and everyone is complaining.

    Sometimes your site can be sandboxed by Google forever. It hapned with 2 of my sites.
