I do have one question, when I started lifting heavily I noticed that any emotions I felt were much more intense, espectially if I got angry. It kind of shocked me because I'm pretty calm or quiet but I remember getting pissed off a few times the feeling of rage was almost uncontrollable.. I havent had this happen since I stopped lifting so heavily. Likewise any positive feelings were stronger as well, I am naturally motivated but when I was lifting I just would not stop. Does this have to do with a gain in testosterone? I ask because sometimes it was a great feeling but obviously when angry I was more afraid of wringing someones neck than anything.
Very possibly yes....... Plus being overall more healthy as a whole. Put it this way, I got into 'somewhat' of a fight this weekend. I snapped, I mean hardcore. I would have never had the 'energy' or whatever you want to call it had I not been lifting. I practically picked a 300-350 guy up and slammed him down onto a table. It was not all strength being able to do that, alot of it was raw pissed off emotion.
Def. the testosterone and the hormones flowing in your body. When you work out your hormones are raging inside do to the physical stress. I think everyone gets the same thing no need to worry.
I'm getting back into it! I was lifting like 2-3 times a week, now I'm lifting like everyday. Upper and lower body. Want to get fit for next spring
Been going at it for a while now myself as well, the past 6 to 8 months or so...don't know for sure how long exactly. Time passes so fast in my perception that it's like the Indy500! I have some moments that i "forget" to train but i'm really trying to push myself now to keep a steady schedule. I bought a 2 kg container of Creatine and instead of the recommended 50 gr per serving in the loading stage (2x a day) i use a dessert spoon in the morning and in the evening right after the workout. And that's it. If i use the prescribed measurements i'll be through the whole container under a month That's a lot of powder :=) So i take 5 gr per day devided by two. One spoon in the morning and one right after work out. I bought the container from this site bodybuilding.nl and reading through the FAQ it was described that such an amount is sufficient. I don't do very long workouts and work two groups of muscles in a workout. A workout is usually 30 to 45 minutes. I still need to buy some frigging extra weights to throw on the bar for doing some more intense bench pressing. I bench 140 Lbs according to the Lbs to Kilo convertor i just found. Didn't know how much a Lbs was and was quite impressed with the high numbers being posted by Grim and others. Still am by the way And i do reps of 8 and 3 sets and that is for each excercise i do actually. So i could bench some more weight i guess if i had the extra weights to smack on :=) I'm wondering Grim how many reps do you do with this type of weight your benching? If it's 8 to ten as well then you're not human man, you're an ape I weigh about 184 Lbs but i have some extra padding around the belly area that i want to loose. To reduce this i am going to make some free time to get myself into gear to start playing solo soccer - Yes you hear it right solo soccer :=) Find yourself a big wall and start kicking the ball against the wall and retrieving the ball again. I'm telling you this burns calories as if you would be put on the BBQ. Since there is nobody to return the frigging ball to you Only thing is of course you need to get into action - running - sprinting constantly. Walking around is not going to do that any good :=) Plus i get to work on my street soccer skills/tricks which has been a while though. And you have to love the game otherwise Basketball can also be very effective with the same principle. I like to do pull ups also which you really feel the next day in your forearms and upper chest region. Again 3 sets of 8 reps. I really want to know more about supplements like wey and proteins and such that has been mentioned but do not want to go overboard. Just some extra reserves my body can benefit from.
Edz if I miss something just yell. #1 Whey protein is just a fast digesting protein, if you eat enough protein in your normal meals you do not necessarily need a protein sub. Eat lots of cottage cheese, chicken breast, steak, seafood, etc and you should be good to go. It's great after a workout though to get protein where it needs to be very fast. When I bench currently my warm up is 235lbs x 10, then I go to 245lbx x 10 and work my way up. My shoulder is bugging me pretty bad some days so the top weights I'm getting up to by myself is about 285-295, those weights I only put up 3-4 times w/o a spotter. Anymore, especially when my tri's are already a bit tired and I'd risk getting squashed. On the decline press I actually do a bit more but roughly the same weights. I go up to about 270-280 x 5 or 6 reps.
25 years old, , 5' 9", 172 lbs don't lift regularly, mostly just using dumbbells doing offset training Bench: 200 Squat: 260 Deadlift: i dunno no supplements...
Now it's official, you're an ape Grim Killer back workout...pfff...You do realize apes don't have backs....It's all one muscle Thanks for the info on protein
5" 10 ... 230 pound... i used to be 180 like two years ago...stop working out and puff like a balloon now
My end of the week workout, primarily arms. Not for the newbie to weight lifting. If you've had a good week you're sore already, barely able to drag your ass into the gym. This routine will make it so you can barely bend your arms 1/2 way through, barely able to pick up a paper clip at the end. This is EXACTLY how my workout went today. Quoted movements were done together, 1 set on the first movement, then to the next set on the next. Reverse EZ Standing Curl 110 x 5, 5 100 x 8, 7 DB Hammer Standing Curl 35 x 10, 40 x 10, 45 x 10, 50 x 10, 55 x 8 It doesn't appear to be much on paper, but give it a try after a good week when you're already a bit sore. I don't try to get the highest weights ever, or the most reps, I do push it to the point that my arms are simply drained, pumped and aching. Have an extreme workout, post it! I need a challenge!
Inspiration, what I think of is my buddies getting bigger and the ladies noticing them. Thats what got me to go into the gym . Grim your having too much fun in this thread haha jk. Grim if you dont mind whenever I have a question about training I will ask you as you are very knowledgable. Thanks man
What can I say, I enjoy lifting weights. Maybe a bit to much. I have to actually request my gym buy bigger dumb bells, I've maxed most of their machines out and now the dumb bells even with inclines, etc just are not big enough.
Thats awesome. Seriosuly thats when you know you reached the big time when you max out everything within the gym. My buddy benches over 400lbs he maxes every machine out haha. Kids an animal. 5'11"-6ft and 255 solid muscle. Kid is shaped like a big silverback gorilla. Its disgusting in a way though hes too big.
Yeah, we've got a guy like that at the Y. He's cool.. Bar bends when he benches. Typically two spotters. One on either side of the bar. One day that bar is gonna snap.
I know the feeling, i'm done training today and it is exactly like that the first 10 minutes after training my shoulders and arms. I guess then you know you have been doing it right
I am into it a little when I have the time, I have a stack of weights around me right now a bench press, bar and dumbells. But I become really lazy and don't find the time for it as I have other things going on all the time, heaps of my mates are into thoes protein drinks and they work out a bit, I might have to get into it aswell =)
