Are sites with a plural domain name less marketable? I'm obviously asking this question for a reason since the singular has recently been registered (nice site BTW ) I'm guessing the answer is obvious - depends on the name, keyword etc. Just wondered if anyone has any thoughts? Thanks.
I'd say it's slightly more marketable since the plural version generally includes the singular version of the keyword, while the singular version doesn't contain the plural.
the only problem i'd see with marketing it is if people forget the plural version and put the singular version by mistake they will be hitting the other site? but if its all search engine traffic and people clicking from there then that wouldnt be a problem
Thats a very good point. I guess that the singular is one of my keywords albeit not a word that people will search on yet! I'll have to work harder It's a good thing to have some competition and one that will benefit us both... besides someone once said "Immitation is the greatest form of flattery"...
Depends on the site. Go to: http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion/ and type your domain keyword "digital points" and "digital point" and check the wordtracker (not overture) and see if people search for your site with or without plural. That will tell you.
My site is plural, but I still get good type in traffic from it. I don't have the singular version, so I don't know how much better it is though. But I like it.
Thanks drig. I really gotta start using the tools and understand how they work. From all these comments I don't think the name (whether it be singular or the plural) is the critical factor. Thanks for the comments.
