Which software to use for a gallery website?

    Hey,

I am looking to create a photogallery website, but I am not sure which software to use.

I want to be able to create albums, upload unlimited amount of images via FTP, upload images via an uploader tool, let users comment on pics, show the latest and most viewed images, display the gallery statistics, etc.

The sites I heard about are: Coppermine (already used on a previous site, but didn't really like), Zenphoto, Piwigo, Photopost, and 4images.

Does anyone have any more sites I could check out, or any suggestions on which site to use for my photogallery?

    Thanks :)

    Hi Mate

Personally I'd recommend Wordpress with an appropriate gallery plugin.

Google 'wordpress gallery theme' to get an idea of the possibilities available.

    http://www.tripwiremagazine.com/2012/04/best-wordpress-gallery-themes.html as an example

    Good luck :)

I don't think that would be the best option because the gallery website I am going to create will have thousands of photos.

Plus Wordpress is mainly for blogs.

You can try also Flash Gallery, if you want. It'll give your website dynamic.

drupal is blogging software as well.

    I'd recommend coppermine.

however, you can test drive several packages at
    opensourcecms.com
and selecting the photo gallery tab.

I used coppermine years ago on a site, but never really liked it. I now use wordpress with a gallery plugin (nexus, if I am not mistaken). the site is www.bestworldimages.com, if you want to see how it looks.

That's nice, but the only problem is that I would have to watermark the photos myself :(

Thought I’d add another option to the list if you’re up for it. Tried a few of the above, but often found them either missing features, ugly or just complicated to use. In the end I ended up with something simple but pretty awesome that I found on the envato marketplace: https://codecanyon.net/item/madesimple-photo-video-gallery-standalone-or-site-addon/8789416?s_rank=32 : MadeSimple Gallery. I used it for my site http://thenomadiclife.com/gallery/ : The Nomadic Life and honestly I love it. Responsive, customizable, and super easy to use. It’s not perfect, but I never found any that were and this does more than most. Hope it helps.
