Would you pay to sign up to an affiliate program?

What affiliate program inspires you more trust, one where you pay for signup or one where joining is free? Would you pay to sign up to an affiliate program?

Most so called affiliate programs that require you to pay are usually some type of network marketing or MLM opportunity. Now I believe and I'm sure others
will agree when I say there are more than enough free affiliate programs out there. However this does depend on whatever your goals and aspirations are.

I would never pay to join an affiliate program. If I'm doing mlm, fine. But talking strictly about the normal affiliate program, NO!

I can't think of any reason why I would pay to join an affiliate program. I can understand from a vendor's side that they may want affiliates to have access to the product / service before promoting it, and I've seen products where you have to buy it before becoming an affiliate....

I can't say definitively that I would never pay to join an affiliate program, but the incentive for doing so would have to be substantial.

No, signing up for an affiliate program should be definitely free. If it would be paid, many people would be just put off.

I would have to be told about such a program by a close friend or family member. Most affiliate programs appear to me as get rich quick schemes. The people advertising such things seem very shady. If I were to pay for an affiliate program I would have to see proof that someone I knew was able to profit from doing such a thing. Either that, or I would have to be offered a high commission on a reputable product. They would have to convince me that if I work hard I will be rewarded. If they make it seem too easy I will avoid it. I don't believe in "free lunch".

By the way, I am new here so hello! This is a very interesting question, and I hope that it inspires some discussion. I will be watching this thread for sure.

I think paying for sign up can keep away the affiliates who create an account and are never using it. Experienced affiliate marketers would recognize a good program and would still sign up, I guess.

At CPATank, signing up to join is FREE and it should be that way. However, to be appoved, the best/fastest way is with a referral. We have several examples of qualified referrals. If you don't have one, we do have the option to set up a $100 deposit with our administrator which will be returned to you in full after your first $500 payout. I think that's pretty appropriate :)

its just stupid if a person has to pay to join an affiliate programme
as most affiliate programs are free now days and people like free stuff more than paid so its just a waste to create an affiliate programe that wants you to pay to signup in other words its a big FAIL

Heck no. Those that require upfront payment to join their aff program are 99% of the time scams.

No. You don't pay money to get money. It's common sense at work here.
