Besides having the whole site sandboxed, Google can also just sandbox the top keyword of your site (meaning your site will not show up at all for that keyword). This has happened to two of my sites so far. Just in case this has happened to anyone else you should make sure to vary your anchor text for that keyword. And by building quality backlinks that keyword will probably be relisted soon (as happened to both of my sites thankfully)
Thanks for the useful information. But how to vary the anchor text for that keyword? Can you please elaborate this point.
when you build backlinks, you don't use the exact same keyword in all of them, but make slight variations...or at least I hope he meant that
Thank you for sharing this piece of information with us. Just in case you dont have the opportunity to change the anchor texts of most of your backlinks (which can be quite numerous for big websites), what do you suggest to do? Continue building quality backlinks with secondary keywords, your URL, or words like "Click here", "More Information" as anchor text? Or switching to another (similar, topic related) keyword to optimize on? Does the sandbox for one keyword affect the SEO effects for other keywords? It would be great to get some feedback or thoughts on this. Thank you.
You must do a deep analyze all over your Offsite SEO. Check out the % of your anchor text. If you got sandboxed for overoptimizing your main keyword then start backlinking only on secondary KW's for at least 2-3 weeks.
Yes I would say build backlinks with anchor text of ANYTHING but the sandboxed keyword, along with backlinking inner pages along with the sandboxed page.
Ok. That sounds reasonable. Thank you for sharing this. I will try to optimize on different keywords and on various differing anchor texts, now.
Is there a tool that can help determine the percentage of back-linked keyword anchor text? Lazy maybe but rather work smart then hard
building quality backlinks that keyword will probably be relisted soon (as happened to both of my sites thankfully)* this is what you should do for now.
