it means, creating more positive visbility than negative visibility, example: you have a bunch of unhappy customers who wrote negative reviews about your brand, those reviews are visible in the top 10 when people search for your brand name, the job of a a reputation management seo company is to :

#1 : respond to those negative reviews with explanations, professionalism and present the company's perspective on the problematic issues.
#2 : create and promote positive pages about your brand and then promote those pages and make sure they outrank the negative pages, pushing the negative pages from the top 10 into page 2 or page 3.

that's it.

 

In basic terms it's if someone has lots of negative comments about their company or themselves ranked on the first few pages of Google then a reputation manager will out rank as many negative comments as he/she can with positive comments. So it's using SEO to outrank as many negative comments as possible

If a person or business have some bad reviews on Forums or other complaint website. then they need to go with SERM that will help to down those bad reviews and post to perform well in SERM they have to promote their Correct profile on web.
