How do you promote a travel blog?

    Hey everyone :)

I am going to Vietnam in February, so I'm blogging about it (naturally). How can I bring traffic to a travel site? I'm out of free adwords credit, and tomorrow I will receive pretty close to 0 visitors (its new).

Other than link exchange, commenting, and directories, what else can you suggest? Free things will definitely be preferred. All cash is going to flights :(

    Jack

Buying links on travel related sites.
Submit your site to social bookmarking sites.

do people looking for information about travel really come from social bookmarking sites? I'm assuming you mean delicious, stumbleupon, etc..

Take plenty of very good photos and than place some of them on flickr + tip other bloggers that write about travelling. If the photos are good enough you will probably receive some link love.

Also review the hotel you are going to stay in and any other services that you might use + tip other bloggers about this too, everyone likes to read good reviews if they are useful.

Well I recently wrote an article on the subject of building traffic and links for free. let paraphrase a piece of that article that applies here:

'I would probably start by signing up with a free blog
service like blogger and start blogging about your
main site. This will give you some backlinks for free
since every time that you blog a new page is created
which will link to your principal dot com site.
But there are many more free blog services besides
blogger that you can do this with, such as blogeasy,
blogtiger and http://www.blogurple.com , just to name a few. And the
best part is, all these free blog hosts are on
different servers, which seems to be important to the
    engines..............
Likewise, you can also sign up with a free website hosting service such as webspawner
and create similiar content pages that point to your site in much the same way
as the blogging method. Again, you just sign up for a free account, logging and upload your pages that have your articles, and embed your links within the content.
It is best if you can upload several pages so as to create a sort of a themed 'mini-site'.
If you run out of your own articles you can obtain fresh ones based on your sites subject matter from the free article directories.'

Those sound like really good ideas, thanks to everyone who helped me out. It is hard to attract a readership before I've left, if you know what I mean? People aren't too interested in my planning for the trip..

I got a lot of people from adwords who were perfectly targeted, and looked at every page on the blog. They cost about $0.40 each though :(
