Exactly how did you get scammed? If you were buying or selling something on eBay and violated the rules by communicating outside of eBay with the other party, you violated their cardinal rule and PayPal will NOT protect you from scams.

PayPal will use all legal means to recover the funds that you owe them, up to and including suing you for what you owe and getting a judgment against you.

No paypal wont do anything.1500$ is like a 0.00000001 cent for them ......so they doesnt care really....Just try to get new account and contiune with your business....speak with your friend or someone to regarding paypal account.
Dont buy it,thats now allowed

I would try to sell the debt to a debt collector, and or hire debt collectors. If you have delivery proof, and its signed, then you know where and who to collect the money from.

Ask people in your country and even ask your local police as some countries can do something or (pretend to do something) but all depends on your country and the country of the person you dealt with. Lets face it, if this guy isnt punished he will simply do it again and again.

 

I am selling some product to this Nigerian guy. Since this is my first time using Paypal account, I did not know that he is using third party account to pay. Now, the third party claiming that it is an unauthorized access. Paypal told me that I have to settle the negative balance.

How do you know that Paypal will sue me? Do you have an experience before like this?

never ever do business with anyone from nigeria, EVER.

 

Ur first step is DE-activate the credit card by calling your bank ( reason - lost )
U can sleep and watch movie nothing will happen

 

My account got limited some years ago, but it was due to suspicious account logins. It got lifted next day.

Always follow PayPal rules and be ready with your identity proofs.

 

Will never trust them anymore in future

Because I have already read many post regarding this negative balance situation.
The worst things are (1)Paypal will hire a law firm to take charge on me (2)Paypal will sell the debt to the collection agency.
Which is neither for me to accept.

 

So should I just wait Paypal to call me up? I already sent the documents of proof of delivery to Paypal a month ago, but they did not reply it until now

Paypal has many other work and they have no jurisdiction to file case in india .

I have heard cases of people having similar amounts of negative funds. From what I understand they have had debt collectors call and enquire about the debt, however they promptly told the debt collector to stop calling. PayPal are not regulated by a bank and they abuse this (keeping funds for 180), because of this it doesn't always woprk out for them when people have negative balances due to credit card fraud (remember normal banks will eat this loss).

 

I have the same experience as yours...and let me say I owe more than you owe with Paypal! a whopping $3k which I got this so-called Nigerian Scam...if your account remained negative, then the moment an amount is credited to your Paypal account, then it will be automatically debited until you will have a positive balance....what i did is changed and made a new Paypal account using a different email add, diff. info, then new bank account..HTH!
