    Quantity of backlinks does not immediately guarantee you a higher ranking than your competitor(s). Check their backlinks, are they of a higher quality than yours? Furthermore, do they have unique keyword rich content? There are so many other factors too, such as domain age, internal link structure etc. Try to diversify your link build- and ensure your on page optimization is also flawless.

    Well, you have to keep building links and your website would be up one day, what happens is sometimes our ranking is lowered and we dishearten from this and we change our link building method, or we stop for few days, then think something new and then start, this is not good, keep building links as you were building links before.

    Google checks determination also.

    You need to check competitors back link carefully . may be they are less from you but quality . so concentrate on quality back links not quantity .

    quantity of backlink doesnt mean everything but the quality of the backlink.
    One quality backlink is better than 1000 crap link

    I want to some suggestion to you; you should not generate spam back links and you can generate quality backlinks for your targeted keyword in search engine. At this time big and great effect from google SE updated.

    Thanks for your valuable reply. I have heard this thing a lot of time that Quality backlinks are much more better than quantity of low quality backlinks. But my question is how do I measure that my backlinks are quality backlinks?

    You choose where you place you backlinks. Quality Backlinks means they you have links placed on high authority sites like .edu or .gov or some that have high Page Rank or both.

    If you do backlinks manually you can install this plugin to take a look at the sites PR = SEOQuake
    If you buy backlinks you make sure the seller is selling high pr backlinks
