Hey all, just trying to do some research while we prepare to launch a more comprehensive online magazine. I know there are a ton of social media news sites out there, and I want to differentiate ourselves from the pack. We were thinking of splitting the site into 7 sections related to every day life like entertainment or politics, all with social media spin. I have 2 questions: What sections would you be interested in reading? Would you even have room for another blog in your life? Do you think 7 sections is too much? Should we be more focused? What traffic level and average time on site and pageviews would be appropriate to start pitching advertisers and agencies? Would it be interesting if all articles had a video of the writer explaining the story? Should we focus our content on local or national? Not sure at this point. Thanks in advance! I'll include an email sign up link if people are really interested
Make sure you include a technology section. Another blog? I thought you said it was a online magazine. Is it a blog based magazine? Not all articles need a video but some video is necessary to capture a bigger audience. You can have a section on local and national content although national content will drive more traffic.
Thanks Sabrina! Technically it is going to be a blog, but we're going to try to run it like an online magazine. Yes, my thinking is that if we optimize national content, we can build up the library for eventual national advertisers. Just thinking that the competition for this space is fierce.
