I am interested in learning about Internet marketing. I know there are many ways to make money... I'm just not sure of the best methods or the best areas to delve into. Could you guys give me some advice on the subject?

 

The fastest way to learn IM is to have a coach or a program that will teach you step by step on what you need to do. A lot of programs and training packages are out there but can be costly. One tip I would share is ACTION is a must and consistency.

If you are a newbie it would be easier to sell other peoples products and this is called Affiliate Marketing. Basically you have to drive traffic to a sales page of the product and make conversion. conversion will also depend in the quality of the product and the sales copy.

Warning! You may be overwhelmed with a lot of offers out there and end up trying to learn everything as quick as possible and that cannot happen! find a method to stick to and follow.

Start by research. This forum has tons of information about IM. look around but my best advise is to find a mentor to help you but try not to look for big time mentores coz they may have little time for you. Look for someone who is already doing alright and willing to help you out.

Here is my recommend.

1) find thing your like to do, love to do, anything can turn to make money online. For ie. if you like grow roses, then study about it in deeper
2) create a blog/web about roses, keep update the site/promote the site. Persistently is required at this phase (may be 2-3 months)
3) you now start seeing the visitor, their comments. or whatever say that your site is cool
4) Now you can monetize your site, may be selling ads space, selling your own ebook, add adsense on your site or even flip the site

If I understand correctly, affiliate marketing would be something like this:

1. Create a blog about Web hosting
2. Write articles regularly for a few months
3. Recommend companies to your viewers
4. Add affiliate banners to the page

Is this correct? Or would you do something differently?

Do your research and thinking first before you make any kind of move - it will save you time and money in the future and give you direction. Decide what exactly you want to be marketing and how - then find what you need to do it and the right coach or training program.

Affiliate marketing is a good place to start out but don't limit yourself to it -- there are plenty of other ways to get into IM. Do some research, read about different methods and choose the one(s) that you can realistically see yourself sticking with in the long run. When it comes to earning online, dedication/persistence is vital.

 

Great recommendations for a starter. Take a subject that you're are interested in and at least in the beginning don't focus on more than one or two websites/projects at a time. You can check Google's Keyword Tool for more popular subjects.

Once you have the website up with some content, you can add advertising (Google Adsense) and start making affiliate sales (Amazon Affiliates). You should also monitor your website (Google Analytics, Google Webmasters) to see what visitors are doing and if/how the site is getting traffic.

You can earn money from promoting CPA offers from any CPA network. Try to join a lot of CPA network and get approved cause same offer has different commission rate on different CPA networks. Say for example you want to promote a CPA offer of ipad and 3 CPA networks such as Peerfly, EWA and ProfitKingMedia has that same offer on different rate then what is profitable for you?

I think you will promote that offer which network will pay you higher, isn't it? So take my suggestion on you mind.
