Realistically a PR6 (It's PR5 now). Beyond that will be very difficult for a nonprofit site with no budget to speak of.
I am aiming for a PR of 0. PR Does not help your ranking or visitors so it doesn't really matter does it
This is a widely-circulated and widely-believed error. Google's publications clearly link PR and search results. When Google stops spending millions to keep PageRank alive, then and only then will I begin to ignore it. I subscribe to the oft-proven wisdom of "follow the money trail". As long as Google continues to invest heavily in measuring PR, I'll interpret their financial investment as more significant than the PR-demeaning voices of forum posters who are ignoring economic realities.
Jim, whilst that might carry some truth true, it is not crucial. PR is just one more element on the equation. Most importantly, PR is not a reflection of Google's algorithm.
PR2 - honestly for my main site which has a PR6 I want a 2 because my PR2 site outperforms it by leaps and yards. Please esplain that to me and tell me PR is useful
Page Rank will never matter to those who do not understand it's inner power. And I would have to agree with Jim and his statement "As long as Google continues to invest heavily in measuring PR, I'll interpret their financial investment as more significant than the PR-demeaning voices of forum posters who are ignoring economic realities." Page Rank is very powerful and can help with rankings if one knows how to use it to their advantage. To many people like to push page rank to the side which is exackly what google wants, and is why people like Matt Cutts tell you not to chase it. If everyone has high pr then pr will be useless. Why do you think it is so hard to get it, I believe it does still play a major role in how google looks at ranking websites, otherwise they would get ride of it.
hah that is funny mate. Guess how much traffic this site gets: www.1stsearchenginerankings.com and then tell me how much this gets www.visiohosting.com (i am not spamming just using for reference) The first has a PR2 but outperforms the later by thousands. I have been doing seo for a while now and can tell you PR doesn't effect rankings. If it did I wouldn't have a PR2. I would have a PR7 like I was paid by a client to accomplish(and no I can't provide that url. I don't intend to have that site spammed)
I want the PR that Yahoo has. Oh wait, higher than yahoo. After I post this I will realize this is just a dream.
