Great Site with Very Little Yahoo Traffic ?

    Here are some recent stats --

    - Google 2254
    - MSN 49
    - Ask Jeeves 41
    - Unknown search engines 25
    - Yahoo 16

    I have a very nice, non-spammy, content rich site.

    It is now a vBulletin forum that was recently migrated from phpBB and to a new domain.

    How would you recommend that I make Yahoo spider and include all the content and send me more traffic?

    Eric

    you just sit and wait until it indexes etc. check your web logs if Yahoo spider is visiting/spidering all of your forum pages. check if it reads your sitemap(s) with links to pages. do you use all the features vbulletin offers ?

    while the spidering is ongoing and much out of your control, you can enjoy moving forward with another web site or add content to your existing site(s).

    all I can say is welcome to the club.

    any one of my sites that dominates in google (and quite often MSN as well) seems to do horribly in yahoo.

    You should submit your sitemap to Yahoo and Google to get your site crawled and indexed quicker. Much better than just sitting to wait and see if they find you....

    Yes and I am using vBSEO - www.mapforums.com I played with the settings a lot, maybe too much, but I like what I have set currently.

    For the current month, the stats are now --
    - Google 6256
    - MSN 133
    - Ask Jeeves 87
    - Unknown search engines 62
    - Yahoo 51
    - AOL 18

    I am submitting a sitemap to Yahoo about twice a month using the free vBulletin sitemap tool from crawlability. Maybe I should ask them if they have any ideas on how to make yahoo crawl and index me better... or do you have some ideas?

    Thanks!
    Eric

    Think that's bad, how about this (through the 14th):

    or

    or

    I could go on and on about Yahoo... they seem to dislike sites that have had link building.

    77.2 % of search engine traffic on our web site comes from Google, 12.8 % from yahoo. Big difference.

    Funny, I thought I was the only one with those poor Yahoo numbers (350 times less than Google). :D
    I don't know why it is (I strictly avoid(ed) everything that's against any search engine rules), so that shouldn't be the problem. But guess what; only threads/forums like these remind me that there is a Yahoo world out there. :D Google all the way for me.

    Google = Jetsons

    Yahoo = Flintstones

    Optimize for Google and throw MSN a bone every now and then
