Adsense on Parked Domains Okay?

    I am new to AdSense.

Though I signed up and was approved about a year ago I didn't implement on my hobby site until last Monday. I'm making roughly $20/day since then. This has got me thinking.

Over the years I've registered hundreds of domain names and see my registrars use AdSense to monetize them before I point them to my own servers. These parked pages at the registrar have darn near no content. They're almost nothing but AdSense ads.

How is this okay with Google? If the registrars are doing this, can I, too?

My thought was to take all my parked domains (I have a few hundred) and point them all to one site that mostly self configures by examining the host for the domain name and then pulling appropriate information from a database.

So my question is how much unique content do I need to put on these sites? Will Google approve a site that has hundreds of unique domain names and presents content based on those domain names?

Is this a totally stupid idea? Will Google ban my account for asking? Should I be looking for a different advertising partner on this?

    Please forgive my newbie questions.

    Thank you!

C'mon people, do I offend? I would think this post highly relevant and topical. Lots of web developers have many unused, parked domain names making money for their registrars and not themselves. Why no thoughts on this?

It seems to me that Google is enforcing one set of rules for website owners and another for registrars (i.e. from the Webmaster guidelines, "create a useful, information-rich site").

I've reviewed again Google's policies and see nothing against the multiple domain name idea. I forgot that I don't need to have each new site I create reviewed by Google, so I'm good there.

But the primary question remains. Will Google ban me for adding ads to hundreds of low content websites? Any thoughts?

    Thanks!

Just use Adsense for domains and point your domains at Google's nameservers. Then you would be doing the same thing your domain registrar is essentially doing. :)

    BMR777,

    Thanks much for the reply.

This is exactly what I need, but I'm not at all certain that it still exits (or will for long).

Is this the same thing as "hosted domains?" When I Google "AdSense for domains" every Google page I find has "Hosted domains are going away" at the top, right under "AdSense for domains (AFD)." I can't post a link, but Google it and you'll see. So I'm not sure if Hosted Domains and AdSense for Domains are the same thing or not.

My gut says they're the same and Google's no longer providing this opportunity. :(

But I appreciate your response! :)

Yeah, it does look like that is going away.

I suppose that your approach to getting content on the domains could work, where it is stored in a database and dynamically pulled, but it is risky. First off, you will have all sites on the same IP address, which may be a problem if you have a good number of sites. Also, you will need to have substantial content, a few sentences probably is not going to cut it. You may very well get banned if your sites are all low quality or appear to be for adsense only.

You're better off either finding another domain parking service. Otherwise, what you could do is choose the domains that are getting the most traffic and monetize around those with sites with a bit more substantial content.

If your site has no value to a user, chances are it will have no value to Google Adsense as well. :)

I may just try another domain parking service. I wasn't aware there were any and it'll be a lot faster, easier and safer.

    Thanks again.

You can't. The Adsense for Domains program is no longer accepting new applicants and will be phased out entirely soon.

    Sorry.

Thanks for the tip, Claudek. I've set up an account with 124 domains on Namedrive. If it goes well, I'll set up more.

BTW, would off site SEO (i.e. linking) be allowed?

Not sure about Namedrive, but I know Google for Domains doesn't allow it. Check Namedrive TOS before you do anything because they may operate pretty much the same as Google.

I'll do that when I get some breathing room. My domains are fairly nichey so without SEO I'll get no traffic.
