But mostly, you need one of the few tired ghosts still haunting the ODP to come across your submission.

    It's not going to happen.

I'll point out, again, that links are barely counted since the Panda update.

    Where did you hear that?

If you look around within the ODP, they list just about anything they want too. Spam, link farms, dead sites, sites with nothing but duplicate content, child exploitation sites (they have an entire adult section too boot!), you name it, it's in there... granted, most of it was added back 10 years ago... but there is no real criteria for being listed, other then following their few simple steps (and the editors do not need to follow those)... so like I said ANYTHING is listable.

Though you are correct, look for traffic elsewhere.

Dmoz does not accept just anything, Moreover its totally upto the mind of editor.... for SEO forget Dmoz and Explore other options that are easily available.
i tried listing my website for bean bags with no success..

DOMZ is one of the trusted directories controlled and checked manually. To list your site on DMOZ, your site content should be helpful for user and fresh and new. Then only DMOZ would able to accept your site listing.

DMOZ usually accepts sites that are high quality (at least by their standards) and in most cases, it really is hard (next to impossible) to get a site listed there.

I know lots of people put a lot of weight on DMOZ listing, but dont waste your time too much over it, submit your site, if it gets accepted, great, if not, move on and focus your energy on other parts of your business.
    Good luck.

How would we measure fame :)?

Blogs and forums take time to have adequate and useful content. Conventional websites that aren't under construction can be suggested immediately.

Sorry , i did not mean the site is under construction. The site has been fully prepared. And it is not possible, the website will get traffic from the next day only until it has launch by google. Suppose the webmaster submit the website with in 7days after fully prepared than.......

And if you will search here ,you will get the lot of negative points regards to DMOZ.

Many webmasters have been unsuccessful in getting their sites listed in DMOZ. Unfortunately, some sites just do not tick the relevant boxes.

End users have also found they are unsuccessful getting their suggestions listed. It seems that some editors do not tick the relevant boxes either ;)

fortunately, Dmoz benefit for SEO have dropped to almost none and today there are much better ways to do that. So here you have it - You don't need Dmoz nor does Dmoz need you.

DMOZ never sends any response. So it's meaningless to hope for a response.
