I believe it's a great way to increase your customer base but also bad as some might sign-up for the service and never use it.
I would also be careful on offering Free hosting, as it is not that hard to get your IP Blacklisted these days! You would have to make sure to set limitations and constantly monitor the accounts. Phishing sites are also something that you would have to keep an eye out for. Don't get me wrong, there are benefits of offering free hosting.
For a simple HTML/CSS website free hosting might be fine. The best free hosting companies (without any ads) that I know are freehostia.com, atspace.com and 000webhost.com. I'm using free hosting to host my personal portfolio website, as I don't care about this my website very much. However, I would recommend you to rather pay a few dollars per month for a decent hosting company.
not sure if its me but i tried to use a free hosting company just to backup and it was a total nightmare, slow, couldn't get the support etc... Paid hosting is VERY cheap nowdays with bargains popping up on ebay alkl the time
Use webs.com for free hosting, and if you also want a free domain dot.tk provides ad-free .tk domains.
most of the free web hosting effect their clients with ads on their websites pages. so its just for unprofessional hosting needs.
free hosting is fine until you get BIG traffic, then you have to invest in reliable hosting otherwise no traffic - no profit.
Free web hosting is not that good at all so don’t think because the cost is free that you are going to have a good time
Free Hosting is good as long as it is for personal use but not good for business or blogs and forums, as you have limited access to your account and features of server. You may even not get backup option. Also, you would be compelled to post free banners and ads of the company. Be Careful before choosing Free Host!
I agree with this. I wouldn't host anything that required a high up time on a free web host. But it may be a good idea to test a free site to see what kind of support you'd get from the "paid" side of a company.
