Hello, I just opened the site http://www.noobblog.com 2 days ago and I noticied the load times for it are fairly slow. It's based off of a wordpress theme but there is barely anything that it needs to load size wise. I heard that new domains are often slow, but I'm not sure of that. I'm afraid this will effect how many visitors I will get to the site. Could anybody give me a reason/suggestions as to why the site is loading slowly. P.S.- My host is GoDaddy and the domain is also hosted at GoDaddy.
that's probably it. do you have shell access? login and type "top" and show the results if you do. chances are the server is bogged down. complain to them, if they don't fix it, move elsewhere.
I was just looking at your blog - Have a look at changing the permalink structure to the other one with post names - Better SEO.
New domains are slow? Aside from local DNS caching, I can't think of any reason a new domain would slow you down. After the first name request, any DNS latency related to the newness of the name should be gone.
yeah, I'm not sure where this is coming from, but I've heard it from a lot of people lately. the only reason new domains are "slow" is the DNS propogation. and that doesn't mean they'll load slowly, it means the site won't be accessable to everyone until the DNS propogates to their ISP.
Actually, the propagation lag is only an issue when an existing domain changes IP addresses or authoritative name servers without having dramatically reduced the time to live on existing entries in zone files. The TTL can be days or weeks, and that old info may be cached around the net until it times out. For a smooth transition, the TTL should be brought down as far as possible well in advance of a cutover. The DNS latency on a new domain will add a few milliseconds while the DNS server looks up the data from a root server and then an authoritative server. This can also happen if the name is not resolved frequently or the cache is flushed. In any event, it really shouldn't be noticeable.
