i m very confused as to how to start learning seo with good knowledge of it.........can some one help me
From the limited knowledge of SEO I have, I can tell you that you have to have titles that are unique and are relevant to each page. You should place your headlines in <h1> or <h2> tags and you should make sure your urls don't use ?variable=something, use .htaccess to make the url something like /variable/something/.
Do a little research yourself before post questions. SEO is such a big area no one can tell you everything about it. Read forum posts (and digital point is a good way to start), search G for more info, etc. After that post punctual questions about your problem regarding SEO ! Best of luck to you...
I am not a seo expert, But cant agree with it. This forum has similar urls and About 350,000 pages from this forum are in cache of Google. http://www.google.co.in/search?hl=en&q=site:http://forums.digitalpoint.com/&btnG=Google+Search&meta= For some search terms it is also at #1.
i believe for beginners, we need to make our sites more SEO-friendly, by having permalink to let the spiders have an easier time indexing our sites.
Can you please shed a little more light on this please? I currently use a little PHP and via GET to display my content. Thanks!
hey mtb, the general idea is to display your keywords in the links. for example for my blog, i have domainname.com/12/i-love-seo.html i'm using wordpress and just install plugins to use. btw, wat type of software for ya website?
From what I've heard, google has trouble following $_GET based urls. Just because digital point has urls with ?variable=something at #1 doesn't mean it wouldn't be easier to get there if they changed their urls. I also don't know a lot about SEO but I have been told that removing $_GET requests from urls will help search engine placement.
Thanks tofumonkey, but I was hoping for some more information regarding the .htaccess stuff danbradster talks about. As for the software that I use, well that would be Dreamweaver and Notepad I have been using $_GET requests yet still be descriptive with my URL's. For example: http://acne-diet.org/index.php?p=combating-acne

You need to read alot but you need to make sure what your reading is accurate and can be trusted. The following sites I highly recommend. SeoBook.com Seomoz.com(start with seobook I think) 1stsearchenginerankings.com I also highly recommend buying the Seobook e-book. It isn't cheap but the guy knows what he is doing. And good luck! If you have questions feel free to send me a PM.
There are lot of SEO books available free. Have a look in buy, sell and trade main forum section. Some one is already giving it.
