Hi All, how to avoid duplicate content, For pages that have substantially the same content in the same language and are targeted at multiple countries, for example : www.example.com/in, www.example.com/uk, please advise me how to overcome with duplicate content.

yes my site is .com, but i planned to target four regions, in the website all my pages will be same and the content is written in only English, but there is only changes in services, is that i can make use of canonical tag, please can you send me some examples

I use a free plugin called qTranslate in WP and its awesome. Google tells me that the only duplicate content is with meta keywords but they don't play any role in todays seo and that is something you can easily overcome.
I think the best strategy is the vary content as much as possible. Other tricks would work in the short-term, but I think your best bet is to re-write as much as possible.
true, as ur services are also different for regionwise. so, it is the best way to change the content but if u don't want to change it then cononical tag is the best way which is suggested by google itself.
Well, this is indeed duplicate content within the website. As such, Google does not penalize websites for duplicate content. It simply does not rank duplicate content in search results. Also, this practice won't be liked by search engines... I would advise you create category page on your homepage, routing people to their respective country. Optimize your homepage for good ranking so that it appears for query from any of your targeted country.
