Don't tell him but I already did a 15 page research paper on the topic and checked my verses against 6 English translations on a Muslim web-site.

I was waiting for him to post his *translation* and then take those and put into google. Of course, the translations I provided were from a respectable site, but I'd like to see how he spins it!

Honestly, I don't see what the big deal is. That's what islam is. No reason to deny it, unless one is ashamed for some reason. If they are ashamed, I'd like to invite them here to talk to others.

    No harm, no foul.

Look's like the shoe is on the other foot now. What's wrong GTech, don't you trust my translations? Your translation was not from a respectable source.

I found a site dealing with this subject. It is very long, but if you scroll down to THE ABSENCE FROM THE QUR`AN OF ANY PENALTY FOR APOSTASY section it might be interesting to you.
    http://www.islamicperspectives.com/Apostasy1.htm

Here is more info I found:
As you should be aware of the fact that the basis of the opinion regarding the death penalty of an apostate is not any verse of the Qur'an , but a saying ascribed to the Prophet (pbuh), as reported by Bukhari, in his "Kitaab al-Jihaad wal-Siyar", "Kitaab istitabah al-Murtaddeen" and "Kitaab al-ai`tisaam bil-Kitaab wal-Sunnah", in which the Prophet (pbuh) is reported to have said:

Whoever changes his Religion, kill him.

Obviously, if the matter had ended here, I would probably have had no objection in submitting that the Prophet (pbuh) has fixed the punishment for ALL apostates to be death...

Please read the rest, there is much more here but I didn't want to post it all (too long):

    Thanks:)

What about this story, what do you think Rebecca?

    by Flora del Mindanao

    12 July, 2006
The following is a harrowing true account from a former Muslim. It describes in detail how her experiences in Saudi Arabia forced her to accept that Islam is not the "religion of peace" as it has been described. In her own words, Flora del Mindanao tells why she could not remain a Muslim:

I am trying to get a positive image of Islam. People in a lot of religions feel that claiming "out of context" and "badly translated" are valid defenses. And they are...if you can provide the correct translation and the proper context.

    I'm still waiting.

No wonder it is as myopic then as it is today.

More baseless words. What's so myopic about it? Did you even bother to read the complete paper? Are there any specific places where I took something out of context? If so, which part is out of context and what context should it be in?
