What do you do when you get asked to write positively and non politically about something negative and political? My last assignmemt, as an example, was to write about the living situation in immagration jails in the United States.
I believe the answer to that is research, research and more research. That is one of the differences I believe between a good copywriter and a "wannabe". A good writer will go to a lot of effort to be knowledable on the subject he/she is writing about.
Whenever I was facing a situation like that and could not do anything else. I prefer to keep balance. If I had to be neutral for example I would write that (x) is doing this, and to balance this then I would write something negative about (Y) as well. Do you understand what I mean? (my english is not top notch exactly...)
Agree also on all the above! But as a rhetorical question, what can someone do to balance the research time with tha actual production time and the work output that is needed?
That sounds kinda tricky, there aren't too many things that are positive about immigration jails over here. I would find the few details that are non-politically positive and highlight them like: Quality of food (compared to other countries) Just dig around and you'll find something that set's it apart and then run with it.
Just about any time you add adjectives, you are conveying a message which could be either positive or negative. Stick to explaining things factually with numbers rather than describing them with words like large or small. And watch out for words that have added meaning. For example an odor is generally seen as stinky and unpleasant while a fragrance is something people would enjoy smelling. Think more like a journalist than a copywriter. Stick to the facts and let your readers make their own conclusions.
Why would you even do that..? Have character, and say no to bs. Don't spend a second of your life on that; spend your life on giving love and doing good stuff.
When I have a topic that could be considered difficult to write, I do a great deal of reading on the subject. I love reading and learning about new things and am able to cover a great deal of material in a short amount of time. I try to really have some knowledge of the subject before I actually begin writing.
So you start with 2 forms of research... RESEARCH #1 Living situations in immigration jails in the US RESEARCH #2 Previous content on that topic. Some of the best work was actually swipes of previous content. No need to start from bare bone if there are topics like that already floating around.
I agree on the above! I believe research, & more research. A good writer will go to a lot of effort to be knowledgeable on the subject he is writing about.
