I thing both are very important to bring up visitors and backlink. blog posting is good compare with forum, because in blog they updating with huge content and quality. Now Google will give more importance for Content, So give some more importance for Blog commenting.
Yeah why not do both? Shouldnt stick to just one method. You should also be mixing dofollow and nofollow for more natural linking. Google picks up on this kinda stuff.
I will go for forum posting its much effective source of traffic and backlinks and pretty much helpful most especially if it is relevant.
i think it really depends on how many sites out there are in your niche for forums and blogs. either way, forums or blogs are both great, as long as they're in your niche. since relevant backlinks are key, if there are more relevant forums where you can get backlinks from, go for it. and visa versa.

Forum and blog both are important and equivalent effects. And in my point of view blog commenting gives faster results.
According to me both are best for link building method. You can get incoming links and as well as getting good source of traffic from both method. But make sure, when you do blog and forum those site have do follow links and high PR. Also your post are related to the topic and unique post. It's good for your site.
Forums Posting: Will give you a Backlink as well as Traffic. Blog Commenting: Blog will give you only backlinks. and these back link must be on relevant blog and with hign PR.
They are different techniques, buddy. I think forum posting is easier, but does not give you the exposure blog commenting does. Yeah, I'd do both, why not.
Both are valuable, only if you select quality forums and quality blogs to comment on. But my suggestion is always selecting forum participation.

I think forum posting....because comments doesn't get approved easily whereas forum posts approved easily...
As per my conception - Blog Commenting is more important than Forum Posting. We have done Forum for Reputation Management and to attract visitors. When we have created one Signature Link - Google cached only the signature link for one time. If you have done several Forum posting with the same Signature, Google counts that signature links as ONE and SAME. So it doesn't increase the backlinks in a huge rates. As per my opinion Forum ==> Reputation management + Generate Traffic On the other hand, Blog Commenting is much more effective. Now-a-days, Google is concentrating the quality of contents and the blogs are enriched with quality contents as well as good traffic.If you have commented in a relevant blog and your comment has been approved, then I think it will get much more priority in the eyes of Google.Blog Commenting is really a good source of backlink as well as the Source of visitors. So I would prefer the Blog Commenting than Forum posting.
