I was just checking some of our search terms and noticed this at the top of the pile http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Orange+bowl+merchandise&btnG=Google+Search Check out the source 40 odd instances of the search term No backlinks totaly unrelated site Sorry I Forgot google dishes out different results depending on where you are in the world This is the page/site gangstyle.com/sportsapparel/orangebowlmerchandise.php
1 - how is it "spam"? You searched for "orange bowl merchandise" and you got a page selling exactly that. (If you got a page for Viagra, that would be spam) 2 - that page has a backlink here: http://www.gangstyle.com/sportsapparel/jsaindex.php 3 - the website http://www.gangstyle.com/ is supported by selling sports merchandise. they have been around since 1998 and as such, are a trusted domain. BTW, How long have you been a webmaster?
Maybe he's talking about this: <meta name="description" content="We have 100s of items of Orange Bowl Merchandise. We have Orange Bowl Merchandise for your team. Read ohens post and take a look at the site. I do the same thing even though I own products and sell MY OWN services. That doesn't make me a spammer.
Ok I give that Spam is a maybe a little harsh a term to use, The page is about Orange Bowl Merchandise. My main point is that I vaguely remember reading stuffing the source with a keyword either through white text or as seems to be done here through code is considered spamming the page we see has 3-4 instances of the keyword But 40 + in the source the page has no inbound links from another domain but yet ends up #1 Seems to me google has started to place a lot of relevance on content again ! Ohene BTW, How long have you been a webmaster?
Thanks Just for the record all their bowl pages are doing well because of keywords stuffing hence why i asked is google reverting to placing importance on content again
Please note I allready stated spam was the wrong word How do you like manipulating the search engines by stuffing your source code with lots of keywords
That Page may not be spam but have a look at the page that the link comes from. http://www.gangstyle.com/sportsapparel/jsaindex.php The affiliate program through footballfanatics.com must pay pretty well.
LOL @ Neale getting no love on his spam hunt http://www.webworkshop.net/seoforum/viewtopic.php?t=14792
thats nothing, this morning i ran into a search that dominated 6 of the top 10 spots for its search terms. This is not spam.
I know, it's impossible to say what the limit for something like that would be. In my opinion, this site has crossed the line
LOL Sure I We have major interest in that term. The main point is though even after all thats been done by the big G a little/lot of balack hat still fools them
