Is it possible to change the billing address?

Hi,

I live in Hong Kong and registered a Paypal account with a local address here. For some reasons, I want to change the billing address with a US address. Is it possible?

Will there be any risk of being banned by Paypal?

You can contact with the PayPal Customer Care service of PayPal. They can give you the actual guidance.

 

For this, I think, you need to close your current account and open a new US account.
But better to call them, they will assist you in best manner.

 

It will be against their policy to open another account. All I want is to use the current account and to change the billing address inside.
Have anyone tried?

 

Do you have the proof of US addresses with your name in black and white letter?
i mean the addressee is your name.

 

No, I don't have that.

 

Paypal will not accept it absolutely.

 

I haven't tried so I'm not 100% sure. I don't really see why this would be an issue but it's better to contact Paypal about the situation -- they should be able to help you and confirm/deny whether it is an acceptable practice.

Whan you log in to your paypal account PayPal automatically detects the IP and therefore the country you are on. If you are in the same country (HK) and try to change the address with a US address the system simply do not let you and automatically fgills in the coutry address to that corresponding to the IP of your computer. If you log in from US having a US IP paypal will detect this and will limit your account for sure asking for a proof of address to remove your limitation.

 

Just a thought:
What if I also own a house in US, and for business sake, I will travel back and forth between US and HK?
Paypal shouldn't accused me based on the initial address I provided.

You can make whatever address you want. Unless PP decides to audit you and ask you to confirm your address, you should be fine.

You can change your billing address only if you have any proof of your residential address. Because, if in case your PayPal goes limited then you should be able to send your new address proofs. Its all on your risk.
