I'm surprised that I haven't seen any topics about that here on dp. Maybe because the killer is not Muslim and is an Islamophobe ?

The police are saying, "A hate crime is one of the possibilities, and we will be looking at that," Lt. Mark Coit said. "We don't want to focus on only one issue and miss something else." The investigation has just begun. It's even possible the murderer was a member of the immediate family.

This made my day. You make imaginary possibilities based on your own opinion or belief and not based on evidence. How about the message that was left there ? Dude, there's no way to lie and no way to run :)

Wife dies, the husband is almost always the number one suspect. Apparently the beating happened right after he dropped the kids off at school, so I'm wondering if he has someone who can vouch for his whereabouts. Beating a woman to death with a tire iron in her own living room does not exactly sound like the first act of a racist. I would imagine pranks and vandalism would have lead up to such a violent act, so the whole thing smells very fishy.

Lying about what? What does your link have to do with the story in San Diego, outside of the fact the victim was an Arab or a Muslim? Are you now going to start providing a link to every murder of an Arab or Muslim in any western country over the last 10 years?

If so, let me get you started:
    Aasiya Zubair
    Shahpara Sayeed
    Marlyn Hassan
    Hatice Peltek
    Aqsa Parvez
    Amina Said
    Sarah Said

    Fauzia Mohammed
    Sandeela Kanwal

As you can see, the police have good reason to treat the husband as a suspect, regardless of the note left at the crime scene. The same would be true if the couple were Christian, Jew, or Atheist.

Granted, hate crimes do happen in the US, though they are much more common on a per capita basis in places like Egypt.

Given Egypt's recent murderous human rights record, and widespread murder and abuse of their christian minority, I can see why you would think this story might gin up some sympathy or outrage. I bet it plays wonderfully in the streets in Cairo. Not to sling any mud on your contrived outrage, but another major difference between this crime and the Christians being murdered in Egypt: This woman's murderer will be found and punished regardless of who he is or what his motive was.

Who says the killer is not Muslim? You don't suggest note alone makes it impossible the killer was a Muslim?

In fact, the note seems at odds with the other facts, the personal nature of the killing, the location, etc. It is at least as likely that the note was an attempt to throw off the investigation.

True. The news says the mother was found unconscious in the dining room at appx. 11:15am by the 17-year-old daughter. The article says the ages of the children are between 8-17 years. If the father was taking the younger children to school, they would probably be in elementary school. The start time is normally around 9am. If that's the case, he would have a few hours to account for. Maybe he drops off the kids on his way to work? Something else, I've read the 17-year-old daughter is saying she was asleep in the home during the attack. Of course, that's possible. But, it's just hard for me to imagine sleeping through something like that. The news says the back arcadia door was completely shattered. Then, the bludgeoning would have occurred in the dining room. Most likely there was screaming. I feel sorry for the mother. Whether it was a member of the immediate family, or an outside intruder, I do hope they'll catch him or her.

Edit: I just watched the OP video. Discrepancy - It says the daughter entered the house and discovered her mother. So, I thought I would post my source. It says "...Police say it was her oldest daughter sleeping upstairs at the time of the attack who discovered her mother in a pool of blood along with a threatening note..." And, also in the same article it has a video with CAIR speaking. It reiterates the daughter was home at the time of the attack. Here's my source: CBS

Something else, if you watch the OP's video, the daughter is saying, "and if you were a man, you would come (at her) to her face, not from behind her back." Yet, it's saying she found her body just laying on the floor in a pool of blood. I may be taking this wrong, but doesn't it sound like she's saying the murderer approached her mother from behind? How would she know that? It's at 2:49 of the OP's video. Maybe she meant something else? I don't know.

@Obamanation, The Christian minority are not abused here. They take full rights just like Muslims do. There are Christian Ministers, officers and everything. I have known many Christians here and NONE faced any kind of abuse. In a country of 80-90 Million people, the cases you have mentioned, assuming they are all correct which I doubt, are very low and rare. I live here in Egypt and I know about my country much more than you do. Hate crimes do happen everywhere in the world, the point is you guys keep shouting "Look what Muslims do" when a case happens as if Muslims support that, but when an Islamophobe does a similar act, we never hear from you.

    Low as compared to what?

The list of articles I linked, most from reliable media sources, are really just the tip of the iceburg, as I'm sure you know. Discrimination against Christians in Egypt has always been commonplace, but since the Arab Spring, it has really become mainstream. There is nothing in America or any other western nation that really compares.

You've got it wrong. I'm not shouting "Look what Muslims do". There are almost 2 million Muslims living in America quite peacefully. Oh sure, there are all those honor killing links I provided in my previous post, but most of those were people fresh off the boat from a culture where that type of thing is acceptable. Pakistan. Egypt. Tunisia. Maybe you could accuse me of shouting, "Look what Egyptians do" but even then, you don't see me starting threads like this one do you.

It is actually you who is shouting, "Look what non-Muslims do", and the worst part about it is the specific story you cited has at least a 50/50 chance of the killer being the Muslim husband. Perhaps in Egypt it is acceptable to round up a lynch mob, or set some buildings on fire based on some belief you have about a story like this one, but in the civilized world, we try and get at the truth. From all I can tell, you would have our police not investigate the husband based on the fact there was a hateful note left at the scene of the crime. Case closed.

    @Obamanation,

Compared to the number of Christian population and the Muslim population. The number of "abused" Christians wouldn't exceed 0.0000000000001% so how would you call this "Christians are abused" ?

Moreover, how about the religious abuse Muslims face in Israel?
Funny. Because it proves how ignorant you are. The police here would suspect anybody around, anybody seen there at that time, they'd raise fingerprints, check for hair, etc.. Just like any police does.

Well you do and all your friends here do.

    What's "quite peacefully" ?

So the number of people harassed and killed based on religious hate is low in Egypt when compared to your own population? Not sure how that makes any sense at all.

As compared to the religious abuse faced by Jews in Egypt? Oops.

And yet several times on this thread you say things like "Quit lying" when people point out the police have to do all of the things you just mentioned to determine whether this crime was perpetrated by a hate monger, or whether it was a husband who killed his wife as usual.

Speaking of justice in Egypt, what ever happened to the guys who raped Lara Logan?

How does Egypt's CSI team deal with female "suicides"?
Notice how the article covers both Muslims and Christians, making it an Egyptian thing, rather than a Muslim thing? Seriously, I almost spit out my coffee when you wrote about Egyptian CSI getting to the bottom of things. As I said earlier, the huge difference between the dead Muslim woman in San Diego and most of the dead women in Egypt, is that the killer will be brought to justice in the US, even if the killer turns out to be the husband as it usually does.

Well, for starters, they coexist with practicing Jews. Now compare that to Egypt....

Maybe because you have a low IQ so you don't get the point. It means low hate crimes per capita. Got it ?
How many Jews are there in Egypt ? There are almost no Jews. Maybe 200 or so. LOL

Guess what's quoted answers you already. Anybody can say anything.

Once again, those cases are LOW and RARE. Never witnessed a single case in my life.

I don't know what happened to those who "raped" her.She was 'sexually assaulted', which could simply mean she was man-handled not raped. I'm against that, but had to correct your term to be more accurate. But in general, the police here became much weaker than it was during Mubarak's times. Too many crimes and too many thugs to deal with.

Killers and murderers here are always brought to justice regardless of their faith. Moreover I assume such crimes that you link to, all happen in very poor areas, where the people aren't educated much. Yes, in very poor districts, those honor killings might happen. But, this is more about traditions than it's about religion. Most of the people in those districts are drug addicts, drug dealers, criminals, etc.. They don't really follow Islam, they are just Muslim by birth. So why call them Muslims and bother us with their acts?

Once again, there are almost no Jews in Egypt.

You do understand the meaning of the word "comparison" right? You need two things to compare, side by side. For example, if you want to compare hate crimes per capita, you need to compare it to another country, not yourself.

Interesting. So a bit on that history:
So again, Egyptians tortured and murdered the Jews, and basically eliminated the Jewish population. None return because the anti-Jewish discrimination remains today as it did in 1967. Now tell me again, comparing to the plight of Muslims in Israel what exactly it was you were complaining about?

Well gee, if you never witnessed a single case in your entire life, it must not exist! I suppose if you didn't personally witness the hour long gang rape of Lara Logan by 200 Egyptian men, that must never have happened.

My oh my, well we must get the terminology right. After all, what word really best describes this situation?

I was asking about how many of those 2-300 men have been brought to justice, and you are arguing about terminology.

There it is... the old, "They are not real Muslims" claim. No, they are not real Muslims, but they are real Egyptians.

You mentioned earlier the "weaker" police force in Egypt nowadays, but from every account, the police are complicit in what goes on in Egypt.
This has been verified recently by the police action against independent NGOs monitoring what happens in Egypt. People who speak out are arrested for crimes against the government. Can't tarnish Egypt's reputation after all.

Off topic, how is tourism in the new post-arab spring Egypt?

That was for a reason. They/their fellows were occupying Sinai.

Besides, this dates back to 1967, How could you use this as a hate statistic? Can you use the holocaust as evidence to prove that Germans abuse Jews ?

hahahahahahaha.. Raped by 200 - 300 ? Care to explain ? So she had 200-300 d*cks in her p*ss in 40 mins, correct? that's the definition for "raped by 200-300 men".

    Sexy.

The reality here is that, the personal nature of beating someone over the head with a tire iron, in their home, and the fact that this area has virtually no similar incidents makes it seem just as likely that this we something other than a hate crime. Hopefully the investigation plays out and more facts are revealed. It will be ironic if it turns out to be a Muslim perp and Elberengy was the one who made a thread about it. Your desperation to post about a murder not involving a Muslim perp has led you to pick a pretty random crime based just on the "note" left at the murder scene. (Who does that anyway - leaves a note at a murder scene?)

So Egyptians Jews are guilty for acts of other Israeli Jews just because they are Jewish? Nice admission.

Isn't there always a reason for genocide? As Browntwn points out, it was so good of you to punish an ethnic group for what someone else of the same ethnic group did.

And yet there are more than a hundred thousand Jews living in Germany, and alomst none in Egypt. Looks like the holocaust ended too soon for the tastes of most Egyptians.

Laughter at the sexual assault of a single woman by 2-300 of your more englightened Egyptians from Cairo. And to think that you used to come across as one of the more moderate voices from your part of the world.

Yes, they are. Most of them supported them for occupying Sinai. You can't know who really supports them and who doesn't, so getting all of them out isn't a bad solution. Not to mention what Israelis did to the Palestinians.
So, what did she lose in the sexual assault? Her boobs got touched? OMG!! that's a big deal out there!! I was laughing at the numbers, which don't seem to be logical at all. Also she said she estimated the number of the men to be 200-300, and you took that as a fact. Sorry, was she counting the hands?
Anyway, that was more of a hate crime rather than an assault crime. I heard one of the crazy guys there shouted that she was an Israeli and after that she was assaulted.
So, should we say "Come back!! please come and take our lands as you did in Palestine" ? I guess, this is what you want.

    So in summary:

    • Murdering and torturing Egyptian jews, taking their land, and denying them religious freedom in Egypt is ok because Egypt lost the 1967 war Egypt helped start
    • Any religious or ethnic prejudice shown to arabs and/or Muslims living in a western nation should be resonded to with sympathy, outrage, and perhaps violence by the Muslim community, regardless of whether such prejudice is a direct result of the actions of the 9-11 and 7-7 attacks which are widely supported in your part of the world.
    • Any murder or Muslim on Muslim violence should be ignored if there is even a remote possiblity a non-muslim can be blamed.
    • The sexual assault of a woman by 200-300 Egyptian men is no big deal because female public nudity, and the exploration of a woman's breasts and vagina is acceptable in Egypt an under Islam.
    • if such an assault would not be acceptable under Islam or in Egypt, an exception can be made if the woman is accused of being an Israeli.

    Wow. Just wow.

I know that you actually feel that way, as do most Muslims. I just find it ironic since most Muslims also complain that the world treats them all as terrorists because some other Muslims are terrorists. I hope at some point you realize the irony of your position. You consider any Jew guilty for the act of some other Jew somewhere else, but want to be treated as a peaceful Muslim while other Muslims are terrorists. You logic and consistency seem non-existent at best.
