With 2000 users on at once, I'd say dedicated, though a large VPS could potentially be okay.

I would guess that would be plenty, unless you are using a lot of RAM. 4GB "might" be a little on the low side, but that just depends on what you're using now.

Also, the Q6600 is a pretty old desktop processor, and that price isn't exactly cheap for it. For that price or pretty close to it, you could get a nice brand new E3-1230 or 1270 probably with 8GB of RAM. Those are fairly new Xeon-based systems and would absolutely blow the 6600 out of the water.

Oh sorry, I didn't see that the above price was for fully managed. For fully managed, that's probably an okay price.

Just depends on what you are using now. Do you know how much as far as resources you're using at your current host? The CPU should be fine. It's old, but still good enough. The 4GB is probably going to be enough to start out too.

As far as price, I misread the fully managed originally. That isn't a bad price really for a fully managed server.

    Hello there,

You should really check the offers posted @ WHT, as that seems a little high to me.

Agreed with Chris. You could buy the server yourself and get a 3rd party management service, and save probably close to $100/mo. on either of the E3 configs.

Singlehop is a VERY good provider. We have a few servers there in fact. You really can't go wrong with them, and will have a hard time finding any negative reviews. You can certainly find slightly cheaper if price is an issue, and 2 hours admin time isn't that much, but you won't go wrong with SH. You also have to consider that cPanel will normally cost you $20-30 for a dedicated server, and appears to be included here.

    Not bad.

Managed dedicated server prices seem to be dropping over the past few months. I suggest you do a cross comparison on the price and you may find that there are more than a few options that suit your budget and your spec. requirements. Explore a few lesser known but still mid size companies that have been in the industry for a number of years. Many offer reliable and affordable hosting with excellent support.

I believe you have purchased 8GB RAM server only, because to handle your site's traffic it may need minimum 8GB of RAM and 4 cores. Would like to hear the config, hope you can share the config you purchased.
