I think you could give extra PM capacity, Larger Avatar, Special Premium forum area, Special privillages in other parts of the forum, A premium Usergroup name, and then you could give them special board permissions, like close, lock or delete their posts etc..
- Increase Inbox storage. - Something fancy with the user title. - Custom rank given on the forum. - Access to private boards with premium content. - Increase upload size for avatars and or signatures.
Lol... that is if you are into Forum Hosting Features you can give for Premium Members are 1) Do Follow Signatures . (Regular members signature should not be displayed to guests) Its here on DP 2) Allowing them to make their Threads Sticky(You would need some Modifications to detect how many Threads this user has already made Sticky and then Restrict him) 3) A special Micro Blog User Page available on his Profile where he can link back to his Blogs.(Moderation would be required) 4) As deluxdon said Highlight their Threads with a different colors.
Well hosting is pretty cheap nowdays get yourselves a reseller account, and offer basic hosting for members and an upgrade to premium if they want it
Oops, forgot to get back to this. Any ways I took your suggestions into consideration and started implementing some of these. So thanks to all. I should have been more descriptive as to what the forum was all about, instead of being so vague (Seems like it was just a general question though I did want some suggestions for myself ). It's a general discussion forum and it's being run on Xenforo. I'm still getting used to this forum software since I've used vBulletin for the past few years.
Dofollow sig links, more PM store capacity, Highlight sales threads, more thread bumping features etc.
I honestly never thought more PM inbox was all that significant. dofollow is interesting, though. How about free advertising? Seriously - devote x% of your rotation to premium members' banner ads and setup some kind of fair share of them.
He's got a point. Depending on what forum niche you're in, it would be better to offer different premium options. However, at the least, I think you should offer a premium forum
