Got burned! Wasted a lot of time with submissions.

If they are so quick.. just try and remove the ads for 5-6 hrs and resubmit ( this depends on 1. how much the ads earn u for that time span and how much 2.the directory listing means to u.)

This might as well prove what aspidov said to be correct.

 

It would take me too long to remove the ads, and it's definitely not worth it!

Maybe I could submit with a note that they ought to review with Javascript turned off, haha.

How much google really values links from free dirs (or paid for that matter) ? Will submiting increase my PR ?

true. But I think google knows which site is a dir and significantly lowers link value. Am I right ?

 

Seeing as most directories are human edited, I doubt it.

Unless someone else adressed this, and I missed it in the previous posts. Your rejections may be due to having blank spaces which when combined with content sites can easily become MFA sites after they get approved.

Do not know if this is the case with your sites, but I have deleted several sites from my directory which I approved for the content alone only to have them morph into MFA after they got approved.

I think there was a thread not long ago about being suspicious of white space on a web site.

 

There's not much point spending too much time over any one directory, particularly if it loads slowly or has any other annoying features. What I usually do is submit one site to a bunch of free directories, then review the submissions after a week or two. With the directories that have added my sites quickly I will usually submit some more to, because the chances are it will be worth my while.

 

I would still like to know to what level were his submissions going. It seems as though my initial question was overlooked and not answered.
(top level cats can mean a huge no no! e.g rejected!)

 

Webdirectorys help you a lot (i'm talking from experience) and manual is the key ....

One directory don't represent the majority...

 

I've just started a directory and I reject around two thirds of sites submitted, purely because people don't follow the submission guidelines.

At first I would change their details for them so they did comply, but I got bored of that very quickly.

If a site is submitted corectly you will probably find you get accepted much more.

 

I did answer! I did! I did! What I said was, that it was a new directory, and categories didn't run deep. But true to my ODP "training" I submitted to the appropriate, deep categories.

 

It does means a huge nono , before i check any links i have a ritual, i delete all sites submitted to the 'TOP' (not even a category) and top level categories. The admin of phpld is great cause we can delete links in mass ,

And submitting to directories is LONG, very long especially if you do that manually, if you're alone doing submissions don't offer submissions service!

And submitters must also remember when submitting to a free directory. That the owner is not required to accept it either.

I find sometimes people will submit their site, where I do not have a cat or a sub cat for their website. Again I think it goes back to relevance just like in a link exchange. Is your site relevant where you are submitting it to?

I know their are many directories that are free that cater to a small amount of topics. It does not mean they must create more categories to accommadate a website.

A directory owner does not have to accept or are required to accept any site regardless of what you have.

 

Also when you submit to the free directories,

you are not guranteed (however thats spelt) acceptance.

I see lots of similar questions, and people never post all the details: the url, title, and description.

Sometimes, it could be IP. If you submitted some bad site on same IP in the past, chances are you are banned on lot of directories. (For example, a lot of submission services out there, are banned on quite a few, because they just take any job there is.)

Also, as for the approval rates, they are usually not extremely high. Anything over 50% is solid. It depends on the time....not many directories review within one month. Come back after a year.

Why? From what he wrote, it seems he has better expertise than most submitters already.
