I am used to use domainsite for registering my domain, however this was not the case. I have heard good words of registerfly, so decided to use them. Not only I paid 4 bucks more then domainsite, but my domain was registered like in 1 day. Now, yesterday it finally got registered. I transferred to my ns, waited for 5 hours for it to be active but still nothing changed (I went to sleep so haven't seen if something did). Now, I come after 20 hours and what I see? The site is not redirecting me to their parking page, but it just gives a cannot found error. What am I suppose to do? I always used domainsite, very simple and fast but here :S It might be my mistake, but if so can anyone help me solving it?
You should do a search on Google before using their service..There are tons of negative feedbacks about them.
Richie's right. I cannot stand them. I transfer all my domains out of there. They're slow and freeze my browser, been that way for years now, different computers. Everything's slow there.
Yes but the damn this must have been a great directory...Custom computer directory And it was a such a nice project. I hope I soon get my domain, cos the name is good I think. Just I hope they won't ruin my project.
Let's see if we can somehow figure out what's going on in the meantime: 1. If you do a WHOIS lookup, does the domain name show the correct DNS? 2. If yes to #1, do they have the correct DNS records? (e.g. A-records, MX, etc.) 3. If yes to #2, clear your browser cache, close, open a new one, and try to look it up. Is it still giving the same problem? 4. If yes to #3, go to dnsreport.com, type the domain name, click dnsreport, and note the results. What do they tell you? Sounds like the domain name's actually resolving to the correct nameservers, but the host may be having problems or your ISP hasn't "caught on" yet.
You have to write support and keep on it, don't be nice at all, it's the only way to get a response, freak out. Seriously, works with GoDaddy as well.
I realize that works for you a lot, especially if you're incredibly frustrated with them. But if you're not nice to them, then they have no reason to be nice to you either. I used to work as customer support for another. I know what's it's like, and I don't like being shouted at or threatened as well. If they're still giving you problems, then cut your losses and move your domain names elsewhere if you still haven't yet. That's really the only way you won't have to ever suffer their not meeting your expectations.
1. If you do a WHOIS lookup, does the domain name show the correct DNS? Yes 2. If yes to #1, do they have the correct DNS records? (e.g. A-records, MX, etc.) Yes 3. If yes to #2, clear your browser cache, close, open a new one, and try to look it up. Is it still giving the same problem? Yes. 4. If yes to #3, go to dnsreport.com, type the domain name, click dnsreport, and note the results. What do they tell you? I am not expert, http://dnsreport.com/tools/dnsreport.ch?domain=computerlinks.org is the report. Can you tell me how bad it is?
The nice approach doesn't work with some. Like I said, I transfer them out. I have no domains there, occasionally I'll buy a site and the domain is there and transferred there, which is a total drag considering their useless service. I feel you're wrong, the DO have to be nice or they'll get a bad reputation, which they already have.
I have talked to one representative, and if I wouldn't I think my domain wouldn't be registered! He registered in my account after I said something like "I'll remember this case" LOL. But in average, he wasn't too bad
No worries, Colleen. I understand completely. Rezo, dnsreport says there are no Start Of Authority (SOA) records. Without that, computers in the 'net have no idea what's the first nameserver to lookup before seeking the second: That's actually what I meant by question #2 re: having correct DNS records or not. I also checked for A records using dnsreport's sister site dnsstuff and it said there's a server failure. Has your domain name already been assigned to your hosting account? DNS records configured properly? (You hosting your site yourself based on one of your sig files?)
Registerfly sucks donkey balls. I tried to mass change the NS on 90 domains yesterday and still no changes.
Same problem happened to me.. Chances are the domain HAS NOT BEEN REGISTERED YET ... Register with some other site and ask for a refund.. i got my refund after 14 days.. best of luck
Yes, and it's a great host, and I am also manager of that hosting company. However I have special people wich do the technic part, I just do the marketing. I have NEVER had such problem. And nor did our customers. The coincidence is that we have the problem exactly when we use registerfly. Other sites were working and still work perfectly from the first moment. I have assigned the domain to my account, no worries for that. But what do you mean by DNS records configured properly?
http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/lookup.ch?name=computerlinks.org&type=A http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/lookup.ch?name=computerlinks.org&type=ALL From what I gather so far, the .org has the correct nameservers. But that's all it's got. It's not really enough that the domain name's nameservers use the correct set or so. Those nameservers need to have the correct information as well to tell computers where to redirect specific queries to. That sometimes happens when the DNS records within those nameservers are not configured yet. Without delving into technical detail, I'd check with your IT guys who handle these things just to cover all your bases.
Thanks for the info. I will try to wait for them. These are the worst 2 weeks of my online business. Paypal account blocked because of fraudsters and they don't want to deblock it and now this. DAMN!
