Is domain privacy helpful in preventing theft?

I've been thinking about trying privacy after seeing so many reports of stolen domains.. Do any of you use privacy, and do you think it is helpful in preventing theft?

 

Domain theft does not happen if you have domain privacy or not. Domains getting stolen normally happens when passwords get compromised or your registrar plays games.If you enable domain privacy the registrant address gets changed so as long as the privacy is on you don’t own the domain unless your name or business is registered in the whois lookup.Most registrants change extra for this service and so your domain will be costing more.Best to go with domain provider that gives free privacy all year round.

Update your passwords regularly and use a stronger password that you can prevent from someone steal your domain names.

Domain privacy only stops spam and enhance your privacy. For example it is hard for your competitor to find your domains if you have used domain privacy.

 

I prefer bigrock or namesilo for buying domains. Both provide privacy as well as domain lock for free.
Privacy prevents your contact info. in whois archives and domain lock prevents domain theft.

 

domain privacy can't stop domain thefts.....
it only stops spam
