I've been looking at various ways to create a review site, and unfortunately I can't seem to figure out which one would best suit my needs. I'm looking for something high quality (not just to make adsense money off of) and if I can customize it if needed, that would be good too. I've seen several content managements system plugins for wordpress or drupal. Does anyone have any experience with those? And I've also seen crowdvox, although has anyone had any experience setting it up and running it on a shared Godaddy server? Or would I be better off having one custom made for my site? If so, any ideas how much a decent review site script would cost? Any other recommendations? Thanks in advance.
what you're looking for is a suitable wordpress theme, however none is free, you need pay to the author.
This is my favorite free afiliate theme. http://mattsmarketingblog.com/wordpress/affiliate-wordpress-theme/ I saw an incredible review site theme for purchase but I cannot remember where. If I find it, I'll come back and give you the link. It was amazing!
For making a review site I would recommend Drupal 6, using the voting api module, the five star module, cck, and views, as well as some of the other standard modules (path, pathauto, etc.). You can build a really powerful and highly customizable review site with these.
Chances are you will need some customization, et al. Paying someone who really knows there stuff is well worth the money. There are lots of people who will save you hours of work and frustration plus they have the background to recommend some ideas - make sure you ask.
Crowdvox is not the right choice, script is really bad at SEO and without goo seo, you cannot succeed, bad url structure and limited control over Meta Tags, plus script is all encrypted and slow as hell. I purchased it, went through the hassle of setting it up, i must say the features are really good, but its useless if SEO is bad, plus you cannot make any changes into script as its super encrypted.
I think Drupal is perfect for the review site... But have you already decided anything about the design of your website? Could you present us that?
No, I haven't. I didn't want to get the wireframes done until I decided what backend to use. But unfortunately I've gotten sidetracked on both aspects of it.
Certain themes will allow you to pull this off.. I make a few that you would be able to achieve this with ease... infact I believe you just inspired my next theme, Thanks!
I am thinking about creating a consulting website and would like information on the best way to about this. Should I hire a consultant, buy firefox and learn the software, or find a cheap webcreator online? My idea is to create a website and test the market to see if this service will work. Has anyone done test market websites or test companies? Thanks,
I would go with wordpress rather then drupal. I think you will have more control over the site and it is very easy to maintain. But if you are not sure then just check them all by yourself. We all have some experience with the software but yours can be totally different. Just go and play with all the software you are thinking about and choose the best one.
